I was reading the instructions for my k700 and I noticed the feature "My Friends" but when I tried to find it on my phone it wasn't there. Does this feature depend on your country or your network (i'm on o2)? |

O2 removed that feature from their branded firmware because they don't support the "my friends" functionality

I have an unbranded K700i, but the 'My friends' menu is also missing. I think it isn't there because no mobile provider in my country would support it anyway. I guess phones are different in some details from country to country.

No way! Show me screenshot
Are you sure it isn't there? It's in the messaging menu 3rd option it isn't like the T630 on the main menu.

@ teslaguy and bobafett: As you can see on the two screenshots I really have no 'My Friends' feature in my messaging menu. The third option in my messaging menu is 'Call Voicemail'.
And as I mentioned before it is a unbranded K700i.

@ bobafett: I don't know now if you have this 'My Friends' feature or not on your phone. Do you / Would you really use this function ? I myself would never use that, I think. If I want to have contact to my friends I still could write a SMS, MMS, e-Mail or even call them...
Is somebody else out there who reads this and uses the 'My Friends' feature ? If yes, tell me what's so great about that.

I have my friends and it works, but my monthly gprs according the downloadable mb is limited, i dont use it cos it takes too much datas. The idea and its features are great, it could develope to a kind of worldwide club in the net future. Dont forget, that sms, mms etc arent for free. Thatswhy i love pm here. Yamigo is the first step to a new way of communication supported by fones.

Why do you use MSN or ICQ?
It's like the same. You can send en receive instant messages for a very low price if compare it with SMS.
And again:
Your provider don't have to support it, they even can't support it. They can only block it. So if you have the option ' My Friends' on your mobile, can connect to the internet? That it MOST work (if you have the right settings)

If you don't have the option ' My Friends' in your K700 or T630 then a SonyEricsson Service Point (SESP) can enable it for you.
A Dutch forum user called a SESP and asked for it. They never heard about it. So there are alot SESP's that don't know about it.
But it's 100% sure that they can, they only have to know how.....

I use My Friends with yamigo.com everyday...i pay 0,01 euros for kb, and i find that yamigo donīt uses much kbs. For instance, for the price of 3 smsīs, i can send about 20 instant messages (i used more or less 30kb of data, and i pay 0,1euros for each sms)
Plus, i can have My Friends always online, running in the background, and use the phone normally, and it doesnīt use much kbs...is really a great thing!!!! |
