Hi, has anyone else had a problem with SMS's in the last 7 days? My txt were not arriving at my k700i phone (earliest firmware) for about 6 days. I began 2 get suspicious so i sent myself a txt and it didnt come through. I turned off and on my phone and my self sent txt came through along with a txt that had obviously been sent a days before. Now the txt seem to be working a little more systamaticaly, but I still get the odd old txts coming through.

Anyone else experence somthing like this? Or could it be time for firmware update?

Im from N.Ireland btw

Ps- excuse the spelling, in a rush

Thanks

Apparently O2 are aware of the issue. They claim it's a problem with the firmware.

O2 have had problems with late SMS for a few years, it used to be MUCH worse! The problem is with their network not the K700!

@Mik - Precisely why I used the word "claim"; I've long since stopped trusting ANYTHING service providers tell me.

won't do you much good as the online service is reported not to work

Looks like a trip to the service center..... but beware many people have reported struggles there as well as not every country seems to have the latest fw just yet

dont be wasting your time running to the service center to update the firmware.

My problem with SMS began today about 3pm. i called up o2 and they said they would have been having problems with this model of phone for the last few days. I told them i had the lastest firmware (R2L) and not an old one. the guy said that they were sending new phones out to the people who called up with this problem.

Another strange thing that was happening on the phone, was that it must have been a trainee cause i could hear a woman in the background telling him what to say!!!!
I said to him what was the problem and that i had the most up-to-date firmware, only reflashed last week. He said he had no other information.

I am totally surprised by this.

I am just wondering now, if i have the lastest firmware (R2L) and he is sending out a new phone, with that not just have the same firmware on it. will that then not only have the same problem?? I only thought of that while writing, if anyone has asked this problem to them, please let me know. Thank you.

Is it just up two then with this strange problem with O2. The only thing i have a problem with is having to transfer all my files over individually! I have well over 100 photos, 50 video clips and games that i've PAID money for that i cant transfer! O2 will have a question or two to answer soon.

I cant see that it could be a problem with the phone. People on other networks using the K700 dont seem to have the same problem. I have seen O2 texts take a while to get to other phones in the past. Its probably O2s system that cant keep up with the demand placed upon it.

Thanks for the replies.. i think ill wait a while b4 i upgrade the firmware then.

Ive never really had these problems with o2 before, (been with then for about 4 years), so i thought it could have been the phone.

Cheers

my text messages started working again yesterday.

however oday my replacement phone has arrived. It has an older firmware R2A on it. the phone was manufactured on the same week as the one i have and the batterry is a much older battery than the one i have in my phone.

I do not want to downgrade my firmware and has crapy battery life again! it will also be several weeks before i get anywhere near a service center.

i dont understand how this problem wont happen again with the replacement phone as its been manufactured on the same week, unless its an issue with R2L firmware. Hope SE release a new firmware sometime VERY SOON!

What do you think i should do, use the replacement phone or just send it back.?

I'm an 02 contract user and haven't had any problems with SMS (or MMS). I've got a K700i with the original firmware (R2A). I'm based in the North East of England. Could it have been a regional problem, or is it definitely specific to the phone?

well my problem was i couldnt send out txt. it said, "number unknow"

I had an important txt to send and this went on for a few hours until i called o2 to see if they had an known problems with their network ( it does sometimes happen) to my surprise the guy said he was sending me a replacement phone out because it was a known problem with this model of phone, the k700i. I was just ringing to see if they had any network issues and they began ordering me a replacement phone!!!! (the guy was obviously a trainee because you could hear a lady in the background telling him what next to say) It seemed a very quick decision also. they never seemed to look up anything either. just a first thought kind of thing.
Anyway the next day i was able to send text messages again. Then today the replacement phone came.

i have been thinking, i might just keep my old one now cause nothing wrong at miniute and i just believe it was a network issue at the time and a trainee that never went thru the script properly. I cant be bothered manually transfering several hundred files individually from phone to phone!! 12Mb of it.
