Whilst I was far from disappointed by the battery life on my new K700i, it wasn't quite what I'd hoped for and what I'd come to be used to from my old T610. So I thought I'd do something about it. A quick check on Ebay for "K700 battery" shows some guy in Hong Kong selling a new battery and a desktop charger for £7.99 including p&p. I ordered from someone with the Ebay name gemini_stars on a Wednesday, and the charger and the new battery arrived on Monday.

It's great! Now I've got one battery constantly in the desktop charger and the other battery in my phone. Whenever my phone battery dies, I just swap them over. I believe the new battery to be authentic - at least when I plug the charger into my phone and the new battery is in my phone is says "optimised charging" and as far as I know if a non-SE battery is inserted the word optimised is missing.

I'd recommend this to anyone who isn't happy with the K700 battery life.

Probably worth adding there are dozens of identical items from the same seller listed so there isn't any rush!

Cheers Twista for the greeting. I've actually been here before under the name "edskin" but I've rather bizarrely forgotten the password and I've changed email addresses so they wouldn't mail it to me! I've also browsed the forums a lot recently for some ideas as I had to choose between a K700 or a 6600 when I upgraded recently. Chose the K700 - I chose wisely too!

Please don't go down that route!

It sounds too much like a stupid 3G phone!

I recommend that we continue to display our discontent with the current battery performance until a firmware update is released to retifty the problem.

It says on all of the SE promotional material that the battery figures are good why don't we ever achieve these figures!? Surely you can't sell a car that says it'll do 160MPH and then you take it on a track and it tops out at 120MPH!

My battery lasts over a day with heavy, heavy use in a low network area... I am perfectly content with a battery life like this. Only reason I got a new battery and charger is because I don't like my phone then being tied to a wire for an hour or two!

According to this thread

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=65571

The latest firmware improves the battery performance, suppose it is to close to the release for anybody to have fully tested this though.

indeed

regarding battery life in general. it depends how much u use the battery and how u charge them (i read a detailed thread about this, cant find it now, maybe Masseur can help with that ) so its little things like actually doing the primary charge which is recommended before playing around with it, as hard as that may seem. And the figure they give can only ever be a average reading so its never going to be dead on 100 % of the time.

yeah, like ths one

http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/product/2435.htm

but it will be a lot more money.

this ones £20!
however, you get a separate bettery for the on off ebay. so u have two batterys and one is fully charged at all times (theoretically)

edit:

found that thread for ya, it was a sticky

I had this problem too. One way to fix it and keep your old account is to PM Laffen and ask him to change the email address they have for you on your old account. If you explain the situation, he probably would.

the basic solution is supposed to be SE giving us a sufficient battery to last us efficiently on normal use... not us paying for and finding a new battery for the fone we paid for!!!!

@tednol - So, it's as simple as just saying 'Get yourselves a spare one ! ' . All along I thought back there that the batt you got from the guy from HK lasts longer than the standard one used in our SE K700/i fone models . Well anyway, I won't be getting myself a new/spare batt, 'just have to utilize the one I got from the package as far as it goes to it's last 'breath' then I'll buy me a genuine one mate

From mobileburn.com review:
But before you rally the troops for the party, we have a problem, Houston. The K700i has appalling battery life. As best I can tell, the new display, as I mentioned earlier, eats up battery power like a black hole. The printed claims of 300 hours of standby time and 8 hours of talk time are complete dreams. That kind of performance is from the realm of fiction writers. I believe the typical user will be forced to charge their phone, at minimum, every other day. Make heavy use of Bluetooth? Play games during the morning commute? Then figure on adding "charge phone" to your list of things to do nightly before you go to bed, right after "brush teeth" and before "close eyes." Sony Ericsson has told me that they are working on firmware revisions that they hope will improve that situation. We'll see, I suppose.
