Hey guys, I guess this has been explained but in so much detail. I know the Z1010 has 32Mb of in built memory, but why is it then that all I see free is 2Mb? I removed all themes and even reset the phone? Would I be correct in saying like windows XP that SE's Operating system has taken up the other 30Mb?

32Mb does NOT include the external memory. Anyone else that can shed some light on this?

32MB = 2MB internal + 32MB Duo?!
I don't think so! For a start that's 34MB! Surely u people can count!

Seriously though,
I've heard several people say it has only 2MB internal so I guess that's the facts but does it really matter when u can use Duos?

According to the Mobile Phones section here at Esato the SE Z1010 has 4 MB of internal memory and 32 MB of external memory (Memory Stick Duo memory card).

For further information, take a look at Mobile phones / Sony Ericsson Z1010.

Does insufficient internal memory affect the phone's performance? Eg speed of menu?

There is 2mb built go memory on the phone, and 32 on the ms duo. The memory does not affect the phone at all.

An insufficient amount of internal memory will probably not affect the phones performance, at least not to any great extent. The internal memory is used for the operating system, the firmware and user data. The external memory card is used for user data only.

A couple of MB of free internal memory available to the end user can impossibly be considered insufficient in this specific respect.

However, the phones performance might be affected when writing data to and reading data from external memory cards, as it's always somewhat slower than writing data to and reading data from internal memory. It might also be affected by the total amount of memory used.
