Im on T-mobile and they charge quite a hefty fee for using GPRS.
Does any one know of a cheaper provider that just specialises in GPRS?

What I would really like is something like what BT is as a internet provide.
Charge £15 a month and be connected to the internet for as long as you like.

Just on the off chance does any one know what’s involved in becoming a GPRS provider?
A few m8s i know are starting their own internet providing company, be good if they could offer GPRS as well.

Can you actually connect to someone's GPRS other than your provider?

I am certainly no expert on this, but I was under the impression that the networks cells themselves all had to be upgraded to allow for GPRS and I really can't see them letting in 3rd party GPRS sellers? It wouldn't make sense to really let someone else use their network for their own GPRS tariffs and lower their own profits and I doubt Oftel or whatever would force them too either cause there's not a monopoly (if unhappy could always move to another network)

I'm sure another person will happily correct me though!

Incidently Orange's 3G "unlimited" is 1000Mb a month which I think considering the price is only £50 something a month is good going, but like Titus above said that's data only, no voice.

It seems easy enuf. go to control panel, internet connections click new, select gprs and then once your provider has givem you some details, enter them!
If this is the case i would love to know whats involved in setting up a gprs service.

Well GPRS & dial up is quite different, dial up dials through gsm, a connection is made via exchanges from networks into their server, with gprs its more like a local network, u connect & access the network instantly no relay through a voice service (uses different lines) 3 are actually very restrive on content access, O2 gprs is reasonable as long as u dont download big files.

Here in the Netherlands, Telfort (former O2) is the cheapest with Gprs. At least that's what someone told me.

Cheaper GPRS would be cool. At the moment I am using between 15 to 20MB a month on vodafone and am getting charged a fotune. I pay £25 a month to get £60 worth of content, but at £2.35 per MB it still costs a small fortune (you have to be on a tariff over £30 to get GPRS at that rate or its £7.50). The biggest package that orange seem to offer includes 7MB for £8 whicj for me is too small.
If I had to pay sort of money on my home broadband then I would be paying about £5000 per month! Is it me or does it seem a rip off. Vodafone and Oranges 3G datapacks are a lot cheaper and a lot faster but I dont have any coverage in my area and my P800 isnt 3G!
HELP!!!!!

Few months ago, Aycell was providing completely free GPRS to all, but they stopped now. We have another network Telsim, and you can transfer unlimited data for 20€ per month. Their speed isn't cool, because lot of people is using it.
