not sure exactly but I can tell you that my DSS-25 labelled sync station was recognised as a DSS-20 when it was first connected so I doubt there is much difference

No difference in functionality. DSS-20 was supplied with the P800, DSS-25 with the P900. Probably just a new model number to differentiate between the physical difference.

not totally correct. the first P800 were supplied with DCU-10 sync stations and later models with DCU-11 sync station. possibly the latest P800 models were supplied with DSS-20 but I'm not sure about that and my P900 (in dec) certainly came with DSS-20

Personally I thought the only difference was the physical appearance.

I would normally bow to masseur's superior knowledge as esato guru, but I'm afraid I have to be picky - the DCU-series are USB cables with no cradle, the DSS-series are the SyncStations. I stand by my original statement, given that I sold them for a living, unless, of course, they shipped with different equipment outside the UK.
But my P800 definitely came with a DSS-20 and my P900 with a DSS-25. My P910 will come with alot of bitterness that made me pay £500 for it, because I can't not buy it, when it should have a megapixel camera, Wi-Fi etc etc. Sorry to bastardise your thread!

well I do have to beg to differ having had one of the very first P800 as I most certainly recall it installing as a DCU. its not really that impoerant now though

I happen to have 2 different P800 DeskStations.
One identifies itself as DCU-11 to the Windows Driver Install SW, the other identifies itself as DSS-20.
Physically they are identical, but the label underneath the latter has "DSS-20" printed on it, whereas the former has not.

I read somewhere that it has something to do with speed...in that I mean data transfer. It might be that that the dss-20 was meant for USB1 and dss-25 for USB2. Thats just a guess.
Il try and find the link that I read up on about the speed. |

Probably not about speed, I have the DSS-25 and the speed is about 1/3 or bluetooth |

Difference between DSS-20 and DSS-25 is just appearance.
The USB speed should be at least as fast if not a lot faster than bluetooth. If it isn't, go to your device manager and change the bps to 115200. |

you need to doublecheck your settings (specifically the speed) coz that is just NOT right, it should be way faster!
