I cannot answer any questions about it because I haven't even made a call on it yet..its morning here in Alabama...and I can't really offer any insights into its operation until I've used it for at least a day or so...

Right now I am testing a Motorola MpX and it may be the weekend before I begin to carry the K700i, but I will try to start using it some or flash Amy's and let her tell me some differences..

Give me a couple days....in the meantime...it would be helpful if you would post the top 5 things you want me to check on??

1. Battery life - more ? less ? same ?
2. Battery meter - Accurate ?
3. Bluetooth - some people have reported loss of pairings, and the phone freezing up ?
4. Contacts - do some contacts lose their number, or the numbers switch with other contacts ?
5. Silent mode - does it mute shutter sound & games sounds ?

Lag in the menu when rapidily switching between icons and the 1 second or so lag when you answer an incoming call (before the caller hears your voice).

Sorry, no text customization..6 choices plus default and click....

Battery bug seems to be fixed with regard to the meter...not discharging or appearing to be discharged before its time. This unit is giving me very good battery life...but both of the prototypes I had did as well as long as you didn't use the animated themes.

I don't know if this is new as I really didn't play with the production K700 when I received it..(busy with the MpX) but it was not on any of the other firmware....

Now when moving through the menus you have a "white rectangle" that surrounds the selected item as well as the little "spotlight" following your movements around the menu...

Also, the upgrade process did not erase any settings or contacts..I did lose a photo or two from contacts....but not all of them...

Really like the service and believe it will be a huge success and another reason to buy Sony/Ericsson cell phones....

Next up.....S700i.......

Thanks for the info.

Just to let you know, that white rectangle is already on R2A, at least on the Honk Kong version of the software

Looks like you guys have some of the same problems that we have with the z1010, like the 1 second break when answering.

@ Cytech

Is it correct that R2J is not available at service centers, only R2E?

If so, is it possible that the people getting R2J "by themselfs" is getting a software not yet released, but beta software not intended for end user?

I believe the picture should pop up anyway when you get a text. Its only a orange firmware problem

Bengalboy,

You are of those few people here, who were able to flash your firmware at home! Well done. Can you please provide us with more details about the new firmware? To be exact, I ( and not only I) am interested if there is any change in battery consumtion, and all the bugs fixed in Phonebook and contacts. If you do have time, please write a short review of the new firmware.

Thanks!

I can tell you that the production K700i I am using is alot harder on a battery than the prototypes I had....so, I don't think the battery life has been extended when using the animated themes. The phone is working very well....no crashes or hangs and I have been using my Digital headset with it all day..probably a couple hours of calls...no issues.

Used the record a call function, did some conference call work with it..very stable so far.... When I got the phone I really did not use it at all so I can't compare the R2A firmware it had on it to the R2J...just what I've read are some complaints...

The battery meter is not being gimpy at all....going from full charge to suddenly about a 1/4 like the others..it is just slowly discharging...
