yeah, I think this is much too early... I suppose this is in test. Recovery mode does not work, so I suggest other people do not try to upgrade phone... I will try tomorrow to upgrade or recover again...
Phonebook won't open... >> OK, I restarded the phone, and now it finally works! have been worried!
By the way... When this upgrade service will be working, this is what K700 have been dreaming for... No need to go to service center! Thanks SE

Mers - from the FAQ:
--------------
Can I choose what software to put into my device?
No. The service will automatically identify if your device has operator specific software and make the latest software version approved by your operator available for update.
--------------
Bummer. I think I'll update firmware locally to get the English/French I need and then I can do future upgrades (as/if available) online...
BTW, in the US (California) these guys do firmware for $25 and you can pick what set you want:

Hope that helps!

Guys I really recommend not attempting to upgrade yet, it definatly seems like a test run. Wait for it to be announced and then do it. This is fantasic news, SE has done well. Lets hope they make us happy tomorrow and announce some new phones as well (successor to the P900!?!?) |

Well Im hoping that when its up and running I can de-frazzle the alterations that Orange made to my phone. Pests. |

@dmgoss: I read that too, but it's ambiguous don't you think? HK, Western Europe, etc. aren't "operator specific". I think that "operator specific" bit is to prevent stuff like changing from a locked provider phone to having a sim unlocked phone. Time will tell, though the use of "automatic" doesn't give me much hope.
And as for that place, I don't wanna send my phone all the way to CA! Thanks though.
But as for that last question, someone HAS to know whether SE releases a changelog of the differences between firmware versions! Or have you guys just upgraded your SE phones (everything from a T39 to P900) without knowing what the new firmware did? |

mers - Yeah, it's a bit easier for me to send in to there, they are 50 miles from here... I just emailed them and they confirm they have R2E. But even they (who have direct access to EMMA) told me they have to wait to get feedback to see the changes! It amazes me too that there is no official "changes made" paper to accompany each firmware release.

what are the chances this service only works with a DSS-25, and not with a DSS-20?
friend of mine just told me it only works with an DSS-25.
I'm annoyed by the fact that the website states that it should work with DSS-20, and it does not work with mine.

I really hope this will begin to work. Then it is just like Siemens, very convenient.

I just downloaded the software for synchronizing and started it...
Starting the update, the message was: "Do NOT remove the device or interrupt the update in any way"
and then, it crashed with the following message: "Error in communication with the device"!
It restarts my K700, so it ask me my PIN...
Too bad! Need some fixes...

I used to get that same message with my P900...after weeks of trying to figure it out I never found the solution but it had something to do with my computer......I had to use my Girlfriends computer to do all my updates and always worked 100%....Try another computer and see if it works. |

Ok I must be dumb...I have the original cradle that came with my P800 and from reading a few websites, that should have been a DSS-20? When I plug it into my computer I get DCU-11.....I bought my P800 when it first came out on Orange...Am i correct in saying Orange did the nasty on me?
I am goin to try the software update for the Z1010...SCARY. If anyone can help me out before I splash out on a new cradle.... |

hmm from readin ur link it might be possible..."the Desk Speaker Stand CSS-20 is also a charger and a synchronization device," - my only advice is try it once the whole upgrade system is sorted.

When I tried updating, everything worked fine till it restarted my phone. After that it showed a message that there were no updates for my operator. My K700i is an unbranded hone, so the question of operator shouldn't arise.

Finished upgrading one of my K700is.....Goes like this...
The upgrade process is performed in 2 stages....
1. The download of the firmware to your computer which took several minutes....
2. The upload of the firmware to the K700i........
Photos of the Upgrade Process....
The New Firmware is R2J002!!
Compared to the firmware that shipped with my DevShop K700i...
