Hi there members. I created this thread so that we all could make a collective effort to really making the K700 better. This thread is for grouping all the requests for updates to be made to the K700. i.e. all current software issues. I am aware of the K700 Problems thread, but that is saturated with anything but plus the cause is different. Please feel free to post a list of problems so we all can make a comprehensive list that we all can INFORM Sony Ericsson of. Maybe all the feedback will help. Let's go!

A few suggestions from my end:
1. when you show the list of numbers you dialled/answered/missed it would be nice to see the actual number together with the name, date and time of the call (my old T300 does that)

I've noticed a bug on the phone book.
Generally at the begining of a letter, e.g. M. The first couple of entries have the same number when scrolling through, although when you call the number its not the one it erroneusly appeared to be.
So it'll say:
Marc
07712345678
------------
Mark
07712345678
Where 07712345678 is Marc's number but not Mark's, but if I call Mark it will dial Mark's number and not Marc's as is shown.
I have also noticed the first 3 entries under the letter D are doing the same thing also. Its not a show stopper but it can be quite annoying especially if someone is asking for someones number etc.

@Happen. I don't know if SE would make a firmware that changes an operator's setup of the phone?

Hi,
Well I have compiled a few things I noticed in My K 700i..! Firstly thank you all in the techincal fourum for your posts on my query..Just to tell you that it was the damn seller's fault he gave me the wrong software for the installation of Ir-da..!
Ok now the points here :
1) Ir-Da Interface is damn! slow..It took me 30 min to transfer a 3.45 MB song, Had also tried to tansfer an MPEG4 File of 1.6 MB and it took 15 Min..Ir-da interface should be faster.
2) Blue-tooth is amazing but yes like many I did have to wait extra time on connecting..But have not yet faced a Blue Freeze as reported by many. Please Make Blue-tooth Bug Free..!
3)The Well known K 700i Problem..The top row keys ie. 1 / 2 / 3 do slip occassionally but only when done either on purpose or accidently..although they never got stuck, don't know how many of u managed to do that. Please offer FREE. Yes thats right FREE replacement of Key Panel on all Faulty K 700i.
4)Battery Issues..Nothing much in particular..although I must say that this is the 3 full recharge in 3 days..So it lasting avg a day..I have BST-30 700Mh..Someone posted on having different battery for the K 700i how is that..Guess this is a firmware issue..Please resolve this.
5)Network reception has never been better. My ex-Z600 used to have its reception changing every second..But the K 700i has been constant.Guess finally SE has learnt the secret from NOKIA.
6)Should have made provision for deleting the pre-defined items also..Please do rectify this as a standard procedure for Fixed Memory phones.
7)See I sent a MPEG4 File to my phone and it saves it in the Other folder under File manager..But How does one play it..! Any Idea...
What the heck is .gp3 Extension..I guessed SE had tied up with Real player to produce RP versions on its new phones...Please do install this in the new firmware.
8) The K 700i..Camera..Great! but images are sharp when u click but once they are saved they become grainy..Why the hell is this..NOKIA 6600 provides better pictures in comparisions at times..! Please Resolve this issue.
9) The MP3 player is real good but Yes! Sometimes there is an ocassional skip between the song..! sound's like playing a scratched CD..I guess its a Firmware prob..Resolve this..Other wise its a gr8 player.
10) MP3 Ringtones sound louder as compared to playing MP3's in Media player in Loud speaker mode..The difference in sound is very much audible..Please work upon this.
11) How does one use ZOOM function..it does'nt show in the options in camera mode neither in VGA camera mode. HELP..!
12) I read somewhere in the esato forum that its possible to veiw Microsoft Powerpoint slides on K 700i..I sent a ppt file and it again saved it to the other folder and did nothing when I tried to play it just shows send option..Any Idea to make this work or was it someone's idea of being great with false information.
13) The Display Lights Yes! Hangs sometimes..Like when doing a data transfer it is on for at least 2 min or more..but if you key lock then they shut off..Oh Yes! Lights have a slight pink tone..
Apart from these the phone is great..! I'm glad SE ..U introduced something like this..It is really comendable effort..Wish you all Luck..!
Anything I have Left out guys..!
regards,

To zoom you have to change the image size to less than 640x480 and use up and down on joystick. I can delete predefined items too. The only thing is the battery issue.

Does anyone know how to turn on the time function as the screen saver, i note that if you plug in the hands free kit it seems to display the clock as a screen saver, but i can't work out how to display clock when in normal mode. |

Couple of points
1) Ronaldy - I dont know what firmware you have but mine does show the name date and time of the call the fact that it doesn't show the number is probably just to save programming memory.
2) DJ-Wolfenstein - The fact that it took so long to download a 3.45 MB song by infra-red is not surprising. Infra-red is slow generally and the length of time taken to download anything depends on the file size, IR is an older technology, if you need to download quicker then I would recommend getting a Bluetooth dongle, you will see a big difference.
You are able to delete pre-defined items, do a master reset and nearly everything, ringtones, themes etc will disappear. I would recommend making a copy though first.
The zoom function only operates on certain picture sizes, you zoom by using the joystick up and down.
Power-point slides cannot be viewed on this phone, it does not operate on the Windows mobile platform. The thread may have meant that you can control a power-point demonstration with the remote control facility on this phone.
3) Happen - This is down to Orange not SE, it is done for a reason to get you to use their services. To get rid of it you would need to flash the phone with a generic firmware.
4)Jaguy85 - SE or any other Phone manufacturer will not enable you to change an Operators set-up. Each operator defines the firmware to their own specifications to get you to spend more money with them. Do you think that Vodafone, for example, would want you to be able to turn this facility off.
5) Sonysandy - To have the clock as a screen saver you need to put the phones Light mode to Automatic. Go to settings - Display - Light
In general if you dont like the restrictions imposed by any service provider then do what I do, buy sim-free. That way you get a mobile phone as it was intended by SE to be.
Can I also suggest that if we are looking at ironing out bugs that they are realistic issues that SE can work on, like the Battery meter. From what I have been reading elsewhere this is simply down to the battery and will rectify itself once the battery has been recharged fully after several uses.
Hope that helps a bit guys

Did someone ever think of the fact that the battery actually drains only when playing around in the menus etc and that just about everything is very much faster with this phone than earlier models?
Leave the phone on for a week without playing around in menus and you'll see that the battery is fine! You can even use the radio for a long time without draining the battery if you don't keep using the menus (for changing stations etc all the time).
I'm trying to point out that the only way to improve the battery when playing around with menus and so on might be to slow down the system in a future firmware update!
Before responding to this, please test it by yourself. I have done so and I'm pretty much sure I'm correct; when you leave the phone in idle state the battery is perfect (even if it works in the background with radio etc). Use the menus only moderate. As I said, it's the playing around in the menus that drains the battery!

It might or might not be so, but what is it about this specific battery that would make it so much better after plenty of charges than the few first ones? It's the same kind of battery that's been around for a while now, and with other phones there are very small differences after a series of charges compared to the first one.
I am not so sure about this "super-boost" after having done a series of charges. Read my earlier post in this thread and you'll see my opinion in what the problem actually is.
When reading my earlier post remember that those people who claims that the battery is so much better after several charges might in fact have started to play play around less with the phones menus without even thinking about it and therefore they might think it's the battery that's "super-boosted" now!

You can't use a MP3 as an SMS alert tone, and the reason why the WAV files probably didn't work is because they were probably over the 16kHz maximum sample rate that is allowed to play on a K700
