On my old computer that isnt connected ot the internet i connect it using my T610 and dial up. I dial up 915000 and it says that it is connected but its as if its not. Msn messenger says im not connected to the net and if i try to go to websites-nothing :??:

It used to work, anyone have this problem?

Yes, usually this is because the computer has not been able to negotiate the DNS server settings.

Go to START, RUN and type in winipcfg (win98) and then use the dropdown to see the PPP adaptor and check to see if it has negotiated the IP address and DNS servers - if not then you will need to enter them manually into the Dialup Connection.

Also, open an MS Dos prompt and type

PING 212.58.224.36

If you get a positive reply then it's all connected ok and the DNS just needs fixing as above - otherwise it's something else.

... then you need to do Start > Run ..., type cmd and then in the command window that appears type ipconfig /all. This will give you your DNS settings.
