Windows XP SP2 Native Bluetooth & P900 -=- Solution |

Hi folks,
Just trying the RC2 of Windows XP Sp2 and was informed it had native Bluetooth support. It's nice, simple and seems reliable, but I can't seem to get it to establish a working serial port connection with the P900...
The fone is paired correctly, and it's told me that it's installed an incoming and an outgoing port but there doesn't appear to be a way of telling it to start using the port, as if it only supports 3rd party software enabling the port directly - things like Pocket Streets apparently summon the bt port directly, whereas MRouter clearly doesn't.
So.. anyone got it working? I am informed that it works ok with the t610 and the like....

just in case anyone's interested in trying SP2 RC2 (bear in mind this is unfinished, unreleased code but does have feature updates for Windows) here's the official link:

I really hope it's possible or connection problems on this forum through bluetooth are going to go through the roof when it's released......

I've got it to work with mRouter, I downloaded the newest version of the PC Suite though, and I managed to get it to work, but on my other PC, for some reason it won't connect; so I don't think the MS Bluetooth stack is very consistent. |

I've been using this for quite a while. You can initiate the connection by opening the Phone Connection Link properties (the double-ended arrow in the systray) and checking the box for the outgoing bluetooth serial port. The incoming port should already be checked. After it connects, uncheck the outgoing port.
To disconnect, do the opposite with the incoming port. Uncheck it, wait for disconnect, then recheck.

I haven't had much luck with SP2. I had to remove it after several devices seized to function. I would suggest that any user install it on a clean install. There are quite a few bugs in it.

I don't believe it! Windows is still strugling with native Bluetooth support!!
You know, if Bill Gates decides on a whim he doesn't like Bluetooth anymore, it could kill the whole BT technology!
Scary... |

its a shame as I had just got to the stage where Im happy with the way its been working with the original drivers - as long as its in range its connected.
Even when its on the cradle it connects the bt serial port.. Will go back to original drivers till next format..
I have both ports checked in mRouter & it doesn't want to play. Question is for those of you with it working - is it any good? |

feedback from ppl with XP SP2 final?
I'm still having issues - with my nice working drivers installed, i moved my USB dongle to another port and it pulled the MS drivers in... now it doesn't work again!
Can't seem to find a way to force the COM port to open...
ie how to you tell it to Sync if you have to have the open COM port first??

@Andy_P:
I have XP SP2. When I moved my BT adapter to a new USB port, a lot happened in Windows (driver/device installation).
Got the K700i and PC paired, then the phone asked if I wanted to start Desktop Remote. I said yes, and after a while I could remote-control my mouse pointer.
When I got tired, I exited the Remote on the phone, and then the trouble began.
It ended up in an eternal loop where the phone wanted to Remote-control the PC, I would answer No, and then it asked again. It was not possible to turn off BT on the phone, even after I un-paired from the PC. I had to turn the phone off.
I don't want to test more before I have updated my phone software. |

On the Phone Connection Link > Properties screen - leave both the BT Outbound (Client) port and Incoming (Server) port checked. Once the serial connection is initiated - the phone should connect without issue.
