K700i requests. |

I think it would be a good idea to start a new thread with things we want added or changed or fixed on the K700, since the phone is in its very early stages and there are plenty of firmware suggestions we all have. I don't know if esato supports polls, but if it did we could also quantify which additions/changes/fixes have the most interest, and maybe, just maybe, SE will listen. Of course, some suggestions may not even be possible, but this might work if we keep things realistic and not include hardware restricted issues.
So for starters,
1) Remove 100 SMS storage limit, and allow users to store as many messages as memory allows.

Already allows what it can for sms' since it's a seperate memory pool.
I would like seeing the camera light being used for normal light as well

50mb of memory

I think asking for 50MB is asking too much?
But I note:
+Include a menu item to turn the sound of the camera off, instead of changing profiles all the time.

@fisker_q: My point is that if messages can be stored in one memory pool, they can be stored on the 40MB one. What's the point of having 40MB when sms pool size is restricted to 1.6MB? (100 messages x 160 character guesstimate).
And does the same go for the phone book too? Why 510 contacts? Also a separate memory pool? Actually, while we're on the subject, why are there any of these restrictions to begin with? 10 entries for code memo, 10 notes, etc etc. This is all changeable if they rewrite parts of the firmware.
I agree with the camera light point.
@kasel: Lol, which part of "not include hardware restricted issues" did you miss? Can imagine the look on the poor SE rep's face who has to run around replacing everyone's memory chip.
Here's another:
+Do not force the headset to be plugged in for radio. If we get crap reception, let us worry about that, but let us at least try.

You do not need to change profile. Just set the ringtone volume to zero (that's what the "meeting" profile does). However, a separate setting would probably be a better thing.

Yeah and it might as well also severely impact on performance.
At best it could be some kind of archive function, it wouldn't be used every day and it would be seperate from the normal sms pool.

@fisker_q: I have trouble believing that there aren't people developing this stuff at SE with filesystem experience. The only way it would significantly affect performance is is SMS' were being stored on a separate memory chip with different hardware specs, but I highly doubt that because it would cost more than it's worth. These memory pools are mostly probably just address ranges in that 40MB is set aside for SMS', phone book, code memo, etc. Still, I could be wrong. Anyone know how the memory pools are configured and implemented?

According to the developer site they made pools(specifically animation/image pools) just for performance.
So there must be something to it.
I would of course like it if it's possible without destroying performance, or by archiving.

Here goes:
- multiple alphabet search in phonebook (less scrolling)
- more memory for contacts (as mentioned)
- higher capacity battery
- better camera image interpolation software, it's a bit grainy as it is, and quite big in size

Itīd be nice that the k700 supports more audio-video formats.
One day i was transfering files (videos) from a nokia to my k7. When the transfer was done my k7 couldnt play the video cuz it was a .3g2. |
