with all the people talking about P1000 might come out end of 2004 i was thinking to my self and asking what fetures it should have. im a big P*** fan but didnt get a P900 becasue i never saw a GOOD reason to get one since i had a P800 and here wrent any MAJOR improvements, just more of the same

example:
more colors
more memory
better keypad
etc

i dont want to go into technical details but after annoncing the S700, if SE want to release a P1000 or whatever its called it should have all the features of S700 plus 3G otherwise i might be sticking to getting the S700

what do you think?

I think the p800, the p900 and whatever else they're gonna come out with is gonna suck. p900 needs a major overhaul atm if it's going to compete with the phones coming out 3q of the year.

Whilst this subject has been discussed before I shall still throw in an opinion. The P1000 has to be completely different to the P900 in terms of features and quality; it can't be seen as just a minor upgrade as the P900 was seen compared with the P800.
I'm not too sure whether the P1000 will be 3G or not, although SE are rumoured to have another 3G phone coming out at the end of this year that, in addition to the z1010, that will blow everything else out of the water. This could very well be the P1000 (although I hear that it won't be called that) since it will already be larger than a normal GSM phone it might make sense to include 3G.
It is rumoured that the P900's successor will include long range Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but it will have to have more than just those two to make it worth upgrading to from the P900. 3G would certainly swing it for many people, but I think we would also like to see improved memory, both RAM and storage space, plus support for higher capacity memory sticks. Battery life is also a major consideration, especially if it is a 3G device, a decent battery life is worth more than many other features in my opinion. A decent camera wouldn't hurt either, hopefully something in the mega pixel range.

I have to say after coming back from Japan two weeks ago I couldn't believe I could buy a pre-paid vodophone clamshell with a 2-megapixel camera for a little over $100USD. The Foma and AU 3G series phones had the whole package with built in videophone, dual-cameras, GPS with full screen display, 200K plus colors, mem stick pro compatible, all under $400 USD. I didn't seem like the Japanese version of SE phones sold that well at all. I did find a P900 inside an import shop there that was selling for about $900. I can't imagine that they could sell that many knowing that Japanese travelers can take certain Japanese phone models with GSM/WCDMA (ie Vodophone V-801SH) capabilities abroad.

I agree with scotsboy. A better/bigger stylus couldn't hurt either.

SE have to fix the majority of the issues in the "things you hate about your P900" threads. It's one thing to have new icons for all your apps, but this doesn't do dick for the user when you're actually using the phone. Fixing issues and design oversights will. Then if you can add better hardware you make the upgrade case strong for P900 users.

From what I am hearing from mates on 3G allready the P900 has not got a lot to worry about now and from what my clients in the industry tell me not for quite a while to come!
The main changes I would like to see on the Pxxx are cut down MS office Apps & support, A decent voice control system like the T610,
A more logical menu structure, A better file management system.

I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot.

Along with the features mentioned earlier, I'd like to see increased resolution to atleast QVGA.

A better camera, boosted memory, support for MS Duo Pro and aluminum casing would be great.

i would like this because all my work information and records is in MS excel, although the stock viewer lets you scroll through excel docs, you can't use the features. i borrowed an XDA 2, and on this device it was much better for me. being able to search as you can in windows i find time saving.

the casing should be made of magnesium alloy, not plastic. (sony mz-n10 owners will understand) ;-)
