@jairo - YES, that's part of capturing a sharp image, by cleaning the lens, however, if you really want to capture an ideal one . . . there are just some numerous factors to consider like: weather, proximity on the object etc.

@jairo, I always clean my lens when I take pics. some pics are not so sharp mostly because of poor lighting. poor lighting doesn't only mean that the subject is not properly illuminated -- it could also mean that the distribution of light between the background and the foreground (subject) is wrong. the images that has the best quality are usually those where the lighting is just enough on both background and subject. when the lighting is too strong there is also a tendency for the images to get washed out and sometimes in the case of the K700 it tends to turn to a purple-ish shade.
I believe the pic of the bird where the details are very clear is mainly because the light is focused mostly on the subject, I was able to hold the camera very still, and the distribution of the dark and bright parts of the picture is well balanced.
I also have my share of bad pics like this one without the torch ...
