At the Computex 2004 exhibition that now takes place in Taiwan many companies got the opportunity to introduce their novelties intended to be released in the second half of 2004. Thus BenQ, a famous contract maker of mobile phones, has introduced several CDMA and GSM handsets under its own trademark that will soon be produced and eventually might appear in Russia in mass quantities.
The first model M780 – the GSM/GPRS handset that was awarded 2004 iF Design prize at the CeBIT2004 – it is based on BenQ M770GT, but with better design and other innovations.
BenQ Q600 is a clamshell equipped with the internal 65K TFT LCD and the external 4096 color CSTN screen. It might be priced at $250.
BenQ A500 features the integrated VGA digital camera, 18 MB RAM, internal TFT LCD (262000 colors) and the external 4096 color CSTN screen.
BenQ S700 is the first company’s tri-band GSM phone with 1,3 Mpixel digital camera. It is equipped with the external 262K TFT LCD and the internal CSTN screen displaying 4096 colors and supports MP3, MPEG-4, H.264 and 3GPP.
At last comes BenQ P50, a GSM850/1900 MHz smartphone designed for the US, that should appear in the first half of 2005.0 The model features 2,8” LCD, Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC Phone Edition, the support of MMS, Java, WAP, USB, Bluetooth and IR ports. In addition to GPRS BenQ P50 is equipped with the popular Wi-Fi port IEEE 802.11b.
