An extra word from Sony about Duo Pro |

There is no available firmware upgrade for Sony Ericsson P900 to enable support for Memory Stick Duo Pro.
Sony Ericsson P900 supports the filesystem FAT-16 used on Memory Stick Duo, but not the FAT-32 filesystem used on the Memory Stick Duo Pro. We have no information about if any future changes will be made.
..So it is actually possible for an upgrade

if anyone fancies experimenting it would be interesting to try....
formating ms duo pro as fat16 and try on p900. I dont know what the smallest size pro is but it may be worth a look. |

just to try and please some people I have done all this and more with the Sony 256mb and 512mb duo pro's that I use for my camera. I have stated many times in many threads that none of it works
please give up this dream that duo pro will ever work in P800 and P900

sorry masseur. my thought was that it might be an addressing problem with the larger sticks being out of range. I dont know if they make a 128mb pro stick.
the difference in fat format would/could be a hardware incompatibility and the size problem could be a firmware incompatibility. it was just a thought anyway as I was curious but dont actually need a larger stick (yet).
cheers

no 128 pro duos.
Something as simple as this has been tried countless number of times. Nothing can be done full stop.
It's a hardware issue AND a software issue. So it never gonna happen |

people interested in this topic might find looking through what is available at www.memorystick.org and to a lessor degree, www.memorystick.com interesting

yeah, i saw that if i format my 128 duo as FAT32 will not be recognized in my p900! only if i format the card as FAT. I think that is only a software problem, no hardware. But i am 100% sure that sony will never release an upgrade to support msduo pro (unless i`m very much mistaken-copyright to masseur ).
maybe for p1000.
i`m happy with my 128 anyway.

well you have no otehr handset option of the p900 calibur so we must make do with multiple 128's i for one carry around 3 at all times. 2 with movies and one with oggs. |

So what would you all do if SE only supported Duo's up to 128mb in the P1000 ?
I bet nobody would buy it !
