I can almost do anything I want with the 6600 that I could do with my P900.

I'd say the key word there is "almost".

The P series phones are simply far more capable than Series 60 models. Input is easier, processing is faster, screen is bigger, etc. Now they aren't for everyone, and if you aren't using all their functionality then it's possible a 6600 or similar might suit you more (slightly smaller, better with one hand, etc). But that doesn't make the 6600 "better", it's just more appropriate to your needs.

Yes the screen on the 6600 is brighter, but then the handwriting recognition sucks. It all depends on what you want.

I know the SE P900 and the Nokia 6600 very well, and both are the best that their respective companies have at the moment. But that's as much as the similarities can go. There are many advantages to the P900's UIQ's OS interface that one cannot realize by comparing it to other phones on a web page or glancing over a specs sheet.

Can the Nokia 6600 select multiple SMS's/emails/contacts/pictures and delete/move/Bluetooth them?

Does anything else on the market today have multi-page web browsing like it's on the P900's Opera?

I just stuffed 83 pictures that were snapped in the past few weeks using jZip and BT it in one piece to my PowerBook.

The P900 has far superior text input and configuring power than anything else today. You won't realize thee liberating power of a stylus until you've used it for a short while, and then having to live without it! Oh, and let's not forget the scrolling and navigating power of the jog dial.

Everything else, with standard linear navigation, just pales by comparison.

The screen on the Nokia 6600 is brighter than the P900. It has less than half the area to illuminate! The screen on my P900 is still bright by any standard, and that's a lot to ask from a far more complex touch-type screen.

Even the P900's battery is far more advanced than any Nokia's. It's not just a simple Lithium-Ion, it's a Lithium Polymer! That means more power for less size and weight. Even my almost 3 year old T68i had a Lithium Polymer battery!

i suspect the 6600 et al have "dual processors" too - one running the pda functions, and one purely for the phone side. it's not as impressive a feature as it sounds, and didn't start with the P900, SE just chose to hype it up in their P900 marketing (rather cynically).

istr that there are new integrated chips being designed for the next gen of smartphones that should be able to do the whole thing in one. cheaper for the manufacturers, but not so good for the marketing... "new! the P1010 with single processor!"

I used to own a 6600 before the P900.

They both have pluses and minuses over the other, but the P900 definately "feels" better. There's nothing better than putting down a show-off that's flashing his/her 6600 or SX1 around by pulling out your P900. You don't even have to flash it around, the 6600 owner will feel instantly "small".

I do miss the 6600 at first (Ngage games capability, one hand internet browsing, zoom images at full screen, better camera IMO...etc), but i got used to the P900 touchscreen and now i can't live without it.

My uncle (who owns a 6600) played around with my P900 a bit and now he wants one. He said it definately "feels" like a better phone. But that's just a matter of opinion, I think. If I couldn't afford to buy the P900, i'll be very happy with the 6600.

I looked at the 6600 also before buying my P900. The things that decided the matter was:

* P900 has a superior address book and calendar
* P900 synchs even Outlook notes pages with the phone
* P900 synchs tasks with Outlook
* It makes sense to enter semi-large amounts of text on the P900
* The P900 has a much larger screen that helps when viewing the calendar and other information.

Basically, if you want a PDA/Phone combo, the P900 is the best in town. The 6600 and SX1 are different types of devices, being SmartPhones rather than true information managers.

The real Nokia competitor to the P900 is really the communicator series (Series 80 UI).

Basically, the P900 is a perfect companion to my laptop. I can use and change calendars and contacts on the phone, and then synch things back and forth.

The Internet surfing with Opera is also big plus for the P900.

Maybe these nokias are better than p8? They are about the same price!

the p8 still has the bigger screen, and the pen input, and the processing power, and all the other fundamental differences that make both "p" phones superior to series 60 on a purely functional level, imo.. which is what makes the p8 such a bargain at the mo.

And the P900 has also to play in stereo MP3 and very good Mpeg 4 quality.

And the theme's are also very cool.
And the build quality is far more better.

Allthough the SX1 is a VERY good phone the keypad definatly lets it down
The 6600 also is a fantastic phone

They belong to the same class of hi-end mobiles, but i'd prefer SE P series.
