gprs+p900: default-browser works, opera does not |

i have a p900.
i live in Slovakia, i use Orange as my gsm provider.
i have been using Orange panorama, which is an unlimited gprs something, but you can only use the default-browser, and only wap+html pages (i couldn't read my email, or browse https pages, or use the phone as a modem).
but now (today) they changed their offer, and now i have a simple 10MB/month gprs, with no restrictions...
the problem is, i still cannot use Opera, or an icq client or
read emails... the orange support is telling me that i don't have to change anything in the phone settings, it just should work. but it does not.
any ideas? |

you are most certainly still using a GPRS/wap data account whereas you need a GPRS/internet data account
did you actually setup a new data account for this new tariff or are you still using the old one?

Opera uses an gprs-internet account to browse and the internal browser uses the gprs-wap account (the unlimited account)
So you need to set up the gprs internetaccount or use the internal browser |

i checked ..i have an internet account, and also a wap account...
the only thing that is not left as default in the internet account is the server host : "orangewap".
i called the tech. support, they said the APN is ok, and yes, 'orangewap' is the only setting needed...
i thought that maybe some old setting is messing with my phone, so i did a master reset
and then i called them to send me a config sms.
now even the default browser refused to work
i had to set the control-panel \ wap-accounts \ preferred \ use-wap-account: yes,
and now the default browser works, but that's all that works ((

the internal browser is fine... except:
1. there are some webpages which i cannot open in the internal browser (example: the movie programme of my favourite cinema , and for some pages he gives me a 'this page has errors and cannot be displayed'), for those pages i would prefer opera.
2. i want to run som other apps also: putty (for connecting to my linux computer), or an icq client. |
