That's the iAudio M3 along side the iRiver iHP-120. You can see the difference now!
The Zen is a good player, and sound is good seeing as it's made by Creative, but no remote available. |

i've been reading a few reviews and apparantly the lack of LCD screen on the main unit is really a problem...
which puts me off..cos i will be hardto find a particular song on a 6-line tiny lcd remote

I can't see a better one on the market at the moment. The iRiver iHP 140 is around the same price for 40 GB, but, it's bigger, and you can't record from the FM radio, which I guess isn't a big deal. |

ok i bought a philips hd060 (1,5gb) a few weeks ago.
It was a compulsive purchase, so i didnt investigate into diferent prices at diferent shops.
It cost me 250€ (now at a shop nearer to me i have seen the 15gb for 260€) so im slightly pissed of right now.
good things:
nice screen (white light, white screen with black text)
very easy menus
ID3 tags, of course!
very good sound quality
good feel to it, feels like a quality product (solidly, well built)
bad things:
all music must be put on via a stupid program
you cannot put folders in the player
very bad things:
USB 1.1!!!!!!!!!
veeery slow tranferring songs!
resume
i supose for the 15gb version they will have used usb 2.0, so i think it is well worth it for 260€, seeing as the usb is the only thing that really annoys me about it.
here some links to diferent options:(i have entered the page in irish, so that it combines english and euros)

i have seen the 15gb version on a spanish page:
http://www.appinformatica.com
you have to click on "sonido" > "mp3"
this place does very good prices (they include taxes)
thats my..erm..1..cent!

This looks good, and great battery life too. Don't know when it will be released in the UK though.
And the iAudio M3L with 35 hour battery life will be available in July. It's slightly thicker and heavier than the M3 but not by very much. Should be around the £300 mark. |

===============================
Hits and Misses
The 910 player also includes a few features the iPod lacks, such as an FM tuner, FM transmission, and line-in MP3 encoding. While these extras certainly give you more audio to play with on the go, the 910 has a few downsides.
Poor backlight kept me wondering where the brightness controls were. The contrast option doesn't help much.
You can't create playlists on the fly.
Despite the cool blue lights and cute Napster startup logo, the overall look is boring.
I don't like the player controls. You need to push down deep to activate them. Selecting songs wasn't as easy as accidentally pushing "Forward" or "Backward."
The FM tuner comes with a tiny antenna. You're limited to a few low-station settings, which can create interference in urban areas where lots of stations will override the 910.
I always like MP3 encoding. But unlike the iRiver iHP-120, which encodes up to 320 Kbps, the 910 has only 160 Kbps max.
=================================================
and i dont like the fact that i will probably have to use the napster 2.0 software... i wait for more info about the creative one and then compare the two.

If you went for the iPod, it would be a lot easier. I chose iPod because I didn't know what to buy and I'm very pleased with it. I bought an iSkin eVo Carbon case for it and now my iPod is one of the gadgets I "LOVE" to use day&night...
No matter whatever you buy, first check the customer care. Another reason I chose iPod was because it has the best customer services in Turkey. I had a blown piece of earphones and they replaced it no questions asked. (I had boosted the volume 50% up and they knew it.)
PS: One of my 2 friends who bought a Dell DJ a month ago is selling it and buying a 40GB iPod...
I knew that you didn't want an iPod but I couldn't stand it... I know that this won't change your ideas but I thought I'd give it a shot... |
