I have the unlimited GPRS plan on my P800 and I want to send text messages. Can I send SMS with this plan for free or do I have to buy the $2.99 plan for 300 messages? Also can I use TipicME on AIM with the GPRS plan to send Instant Messages or do I again need the extra $2.99 plan? |

I believe you currently have the $4.99 unlimited T-zones, correct? You will need to get the $2.99 SMS plan which gives you 300 SMS send/receive.
You can not do SMS with your T-Zones plan.
I personally think T-Mobile should bundle Unlimitedd T-Zones with SMS for $4.99
I used to have the $2.99 plan which gave me 300 SMS plus 1M internet data.
I think they have gotten greedy. |

I don't think that is too greedy! T-Mobile is still the cheapest. Unfortunately, I had to swith to Cingular on one of my phones and they charge for everything plus some. I'm being ripped off and hope to be able to switch back to T-Mobile ASAP.

I am on the unlimited internet add-on plan for $19.99. Do SMS count as part of the internet plan or should I get the extra $2.99 Text and Instant messaging. I am also going to use TipicMe instant messaging. I think this runs through the GPRS, but it is instant messaging so do I need the $2.99 Text and Instant Messaging or will the Internet plan cover TipicMe. |

Trackman,
I have the T-Mob unlimited internet plan too. For "Messages" (such as SMS messages or Photos sent as messages to another T-Mob phone) I get charged a nickel or $.25 depending on whether it has multimedia. Figure out how many you send a month and what's your break even point. You don't *have to* buy the 'unlimited messages' just to be able to sent messages.
The IM traffic doesn't count as 'messages'; it should simply go over your internet connection, so there's no per-message charge. Note that your phone probably comes with preconfigured access points for "MMS" -- the messaging system -- and "t-zones" which is a WAP connection. You can create a new Internet access point with faster access; search these forums for "internet2" to find an earlier post with hints.

Thanks. I'll stick to instant messaging instead of SMS since it's not extra. I think I already have my internet setup to connect to internet2.voicestream.com |

If u r not on any sms plan, wont u still get charged if u receive an sms (or a voicemail notification)? Just wondering about that.

of course, the best way to find this out is to get official confirmation from customer care as they can see what is on your account and what you are paying for.
I have the Loyalty $2.99 plan which is unlimited gprs, 300 sms, and 30 mms since i have been with t-mo for 5 years and had the origional $2.99 plan for 1mb.
what you get depends on your account. i would strongly suggest you call customer care before assuming what you think you get, and using it, then being charged extra for it.

do you have the loyalty $2.99 plan when they first introduced this a couple of years ago? if so, do you have the 1M data or you now have the umlimited GPRS?
i too had the same $2.99 plan over a year ago with 300 SMS, 30 MMS and 1M data. then I bought the P900 with a new contract due to a rebate. I'm now force to get the $2.99 (300 SMS) plus $4.99 unlimited T-Zones and pay extra for MMS.
I tried to convince T-Mobile I had the original loyalty plan before, but they were unwilling to give that to me on my new contract.
do you have this $2.99 plan forever? |

All T-Mobile plans have free unlimited WAP access, but the two additional plans unblock some ports. |

Do t-mobile do GPRS on a pay-as-you-go tarriff in the US? Do pay-as-you-go phones and tarriffs exist in the USA?
I'm going to the USA tomorrow and don't know whether to use my T630 on a UK t-mobile contract.
pros: it works fine, billing is monthly.
cons: calls are hideously expensive.
I was thinking of buying a cheap US pay-as-you-go phone for local calling whilst I'm out there, and it would be a bonus if GPRS was available on pay-as-you-go too.

I took $2.99 tzones plan initially and when I was apporaching 1 year contract period, they converted it to unlimited plan....... so, now I have 300 SMS and unlimited tzones connection all for $2.99...... I think they will do that for any customer who is with them for about an year.......
this is the reason why I'm afraid to switch carrier..... coz it costs lots of money for taking the internet connection........ |

vvrrmandiga,
do you have t-mobile in US or elsewhere? i wish t-mobile anywhere would upgrade the $2.99 to what you stated after about a year.
I had the original royalty $2.99, then i had to activate a new account to benefit a rebate for my new P900. i talked with t-mobile hoping they would attach the royalty $2.99 to my new account, but they gave me this song and dance.
i think the $2.99 deal with unlimited GPRS, 300 SMS & 30 MMS is unbeatable, but i doubted you will get them to upgrade this for you free.

hey guys.. i know this question has been beat to death..
but ok ok.. what ports does the 9.99 and 19.99 internet plan unlock?
the only thing i really want to do is use some type of AIM/AOL messanger proggie on my p900.. however i used to use IM+ w my 4.99 unltd tzones.. which doesnt work anymore...
does anyone know of any chat proggie i can use.. while still keepin the ultra cheap 4.99 instead of having to move up?
and what is the real big diff with the 4.99 and 19.99 internet?
seems like tmobile cust care knows not too much bout these matters... especially about our phones...
thanks in advance
---------
QUICK update...
ive been using TIPICME and it works wonders! kinda buggy disconnects only when you type alot really fast... ive been looking for something free and so far TIPICME has been the answer...
anyone else have any other proggie to use?
damn i really miss IM+ w\ $4.99 tzones.
