yes this was months ago.

Besides... unless I'm very much confused... this was a batch that in whole was used in the UK and nowhere else. Have you bought your phone in the UK?

[off topic]BTW what type of plugs/voltage does australia use?[/off topic]

Think your message is a bit late.
Unless there is a new batch of faulty chargers in which case oughta press chargers against delta

yeah I noticed it on the Australian SE site at the weekend but since I had not been to the aussie site for quite a while I didn't realise it was a new alert! Its also on the NZ site too

The following is taken from the aussie Product recall page

Sony Ericsson Mobile Phone Charger
Made in Thailand by Delta

Sony Ericsson has identified a potential fault in its Australian 2-pin mobile phone chargers, provided with some Sony Ericsson products, and also sold as a separate accessory.
This potential fault may cause the plastic casing to open up and expose the electronics of the charger, creating a possible hazard to the user. It may also cause a disruption to power supply.

It is important to note that only very few Sony Ericsson chargers may be affected and subject to the recall. The charger being recalled is manufactured in Thailand by Delta, an external supplier. Only those chargers in Australia marked "Made in Thailand by Delta" with the identification number "BML 162 099/4 R1A" are potentially affected.

We are offering customers with these chargers a free replacement. Should you have one of these chargers in your possession we advise you to:

Stop using the charger immediately. If currently in use, switch the power off at the electrical socket and remove the charger
Call our Customer Care Centre on 1300 132 183, or visit any Sony Ericsson Service Centre for your free replacement.
Sony Ericsson is currently working with relevant Government authorities, major network carriers and Sony Ericsson resellers to address this issue.
All shipments of the charger being replaced have been stopped by Sony Ericsson and a full investigation in conjunction with the manufacturer of the charger (Delta in Thailand) is being conducted.

At Sony Ericsson, product quality and safety is the highest priority and the company offers its sincere apologies to all customers for any inconvenience caused.

Seems to me like Sony need to make a more public announcement instead of just the sms and putting it on websites. At first I thought it was a scam, so no doubt other people have thought that too.

I think they need to somehow show it's legit and make it more public so that people actually know what's going on.

It's on their site, on a recall site and every customer gets an individual SMS.... seems to me they've done fine... what do you suggest, front page on all newspapers?
