Hello all. This is mostly for the Sweds around here but it may be interesting for other as well. I'm trying to connect my iBook to the internet using my P900 as a BT modem and GPRS but so far I have failed at every attemt. I follow the guide in the latest issue of Macworld (swedish issue) but no luck. Does anyone have a good, funktioning way of doing this? I'm using Telia as my mobile serviceprovider. Thanks in advance. // Johan

The K750i isn't officially compatible with the Mac, but many people have got it to work perfectly. Apple will definately officially support it soon with an update to iSync. But as the phone is so new, it isn't ready yet.

The Apple Mac is mentioned in the K750 user manual (you can download it from the site) relating to the USB connection for transferring files. So from that aspect it is officially supported.

At the moment there is some discussion whether O2 branded K750's are compatible. I can't get mine to work at all, but many people with unbranded K750's have. Until Apple release the software update we won't know for sure.

To be on the safe side I would recommend buying an unbranded K750 on the O2 network from somewhere like Carphone Warehouse or Phones4U. They can give you the same tariffs as an O2 shop, but with a completely unbranded phone.

Read the following thread for more information:

Add K750 to iSync in Mac OS X 10.3 Panther and 10.4 Tiger

Hey Jools,

Did you try leaving your phone in discoverable mode and then try the BT functionality?

Yeah, the phone has always been discoverable verytime I tried it. I just tried it with it turned off and it made no difference at all...

Just don't know what to do... very annoying!

I hope its a problem Apple can fix - soon. If its an O2 problem then I don't know how I'd go about getting an unbranded phone. I only have 8 days left to take the phone back (if they'll accept it) and go elsewhere...

Thanks for that, Unfortunately i have an o2 online contract which carphone warehouse etc will not match. I guess i'll just have to hold out 'til apple update isync.
Just another quick question, would you happen to know if the update will be for Tiger only as I still only have poor old Panther?
Looks like i'm sticking wiyth T630 for now,
God, i must sound so antiquated!
cheers guys!

Hey Jools,

If you take it back, I may be able to help you out. Two ways:

I still have my s700i that SE has to worry about and I plan on going back to them for either a new phone k750, or my money back. Either way, I would buy a k750. If you can get your money back, I will sell you mine. I get a 33% discount on phones here in Finland, so we can work something out. The second way, is that I can still get you a phone if here in Finland, unbranded as well.

Let me know

I want to use the Mac as a headset for my SE K700i.

The phone supports headsets via BT. Although I don't own a BT headset, reading about other peoples' experiences assures me I can hook one up to my phone and use it to make phone calls.
But imho a headset doesn't seem a very sophisticated device. Certainly, a BT equipped Mac, like my 17" PowerBook, should be able to mimic the function of a headset and thus double as one.
I envision something like this: connect the Mac & phone using Address book by clicking the BT icon. Use AB to dial a number with the phone and use the Macs' mic and speaker for handsfree conversation.

Does anyone already know how to do this? In Tiger on a PowerBook?

Doesn't work. BT on the Mac is point to multi-point, i.e. it can talk to one or more devices at a time. It might do this via TDM, not really sure. However, the Headset is a point to point device and not as intelligent. So once again, the answer is no.

I was afraid of that. I just searched the Apple discussions and found a similar answer. As far as I understand it, the phone is the one that makes it technically difficult if not impossible.

Too bad.

Hi,
I've just downloaded Phone Agent for OS X and I have just bought a D-Link Bluetooth Adapter, to connect my iBook to my T610. Are there any other programs which are worth downloading, or any hardware to recommend? Thanks.

The best program by far you can get for your Mac & T610 is Salling Clicker, you'll be amazed at what it can do...

Also,

BlueNotes 1.3
Sony Ericsson Themes Creator v1.71
Romeo

That's a good start!

Salling Clicker is way, way, way more advanced... there are many things you can do with Clicker you can't with Romeo. Plus, Clicker is still very actively supported. v3.0 is due out early summer and is even better. Romeo is updated very infrequently.

However, give them both a try, hopefully you'll see that Clicker is by far the better product.

does anyone here have a .mac email account? I have and have entered all the settings into my k750i and it works fine for downloading and reading emails, but i can't seem to send them, it just comes up with a message saying 'sending failed'.

Maybe its the outgoing server details which are currently set at smtp.mac.com:********** (my user name instead of the stars obviously). Anyone got any suggestions to what i might be doing wrong?
