What Cingular told me about GPRS phones and the original wireless internet. |

I went to Cingular tonight and talked to a really awesome guy who helped me with my plan. When i got my SE T616 a week or two ago they changed my wireless internet (3.99 m/o) plan to the Wireless Internet Express (per KB) plan. I am using my cell phone to get online with my computer so this KB plan was crud, surfing would run my bill sky high. So i went in to see if they would go back to the 3.99 plan, he told me that it couldnt be done with a GPRS phone, that it wouldnt work. So I said "I read online somewhere that people have used my exact phone getting online with the old one." (basically i lied through my freekin' teeth) So he said he would try it, and guess what, my lying through my freekin teeth actualy got me somewhere! It worked. After i connected to the wireless internet he checked on the computer and said it was showing up that i used the 3.99 a month plan. I also asked that i would absolutely not be charged per KB and i could use it all i wanted to. And he told me yes, not to worry about the KB charge any longer.
So do you guys think he is right, it shouldnt be a problem? My phone is still connecting under the old username (WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM) so im trying to decide.
Im guessing that if i do get charged i can go tell him what he told me over again and get it fixed.
What do you guys think? |

I don't think you should get charged if it worked.

You won't get charged for KB usage.. Only your minutes. I suggest you do it with your N&W minutes. |

you should go with T-Mobile and get unlimited internet no matter how you use it for just 4.99/month. i use it to surf the web with my laptop and it works great.
but no, you should NOT get charged per KB and the do NOT need to change your plan.

If you are using wap to dial up, you will not be charged KB's. You WILL use package minutes. |

Cingular is launching this feature called MEdia Works on April 2nd. For $20 a month you'll get 1500 text messages, 200 MMS and unlimited WIX on your phone... They will also have a smaller package called MEdia Basic. For $7.99, you get: 250 Texts, 50 MMS and 1mb WIX. I'd take advantage of the MEdia Works option... |
