I've been reading the forum on and off for about a month and is it me or does anyone else notice the following irony:

A person posts a question which has been asked a million times over which seems given the reactions to be regarded as a waste due to the fact that there is a search facility.

However, surely it is an equal waste to point the search out every time someone does it, especially with the "duh" undertone many of these replies have. If someone feels the need to reply to a repeated question, why not balance out the cosmos by making the post worthwhile by posting the solution instead

Have you used the search to find the answer? ;-D

No, i agree with you. Although i also think that you could give a second to use the search, but if you dont find your answer easily, there should be no fuzz about it...

It would be a good idea to have a search option on the page for opening a new post, to encourage use of the search option.

The search is on the page for creating a new post but its not especially highlighted as its just part of the standard items at the top of the page

The initial poster is right to some extent. I do find it frustrating, however, when someone asks a question that can be easily answered by reading the manual.

I agree that sarcasm is not necessary, however there is absolutely nothing wrong with suggesting the search/linking to a search you did or linking to a thread where the question has been discussed before.

Standard manual questions deserve an answer like 'did you read your manual? It's on page 25' imho.... the manual came with the phone for a reason... to give us a basic understanding of how the device works.

I am one of those ppl that read it when coming across new things

Personally, I always reply to repeated questions just with the answer. Reason being, I realise that not all people are experienced with using message boards (or the internet for that matter) and also as good as the search function is, it's not infallible.

It infuriates me too, when somebody replies with a curt 'Haven't you ever heard of the search' answer or such like. Very geeky, in my opinion.
