Dan,

Called t-mob again and talked to someone in Customer management. Basically when you dial 150 from your phone, presss option 2, then option 0.

This will get you to a operator.

Tell them that you are intereseted in upgrading, but want to know if there is anything 'better' that they can do for you. If you get no response, then asked to be put thru to the dept that deasl with disconnections (that always works).

You will prob be put on hold, listen to some sh!te muzak, and then get someone on the other end, who will say that they can give you an additional 80GBP on yr allowance. From conversation with loads of people in that dept, it seems that is the maximum that they are allowed to offer.

Good luck and if you get a bigger discount, post here and let us know.

Cheers

Dan,

I spend approx 70pcm with t-mob.
All I got was an offer of additional 80 (on top of 150) - thus leaving me to pay 140 for P900.

I asked if there was anyhting else poss and they said no (on various ocassions!)

Then asked about what the process was if I wanted to move to another network and disconnect from t-mob. (kind of thought that I would make a last ditch attempt). They were willing to give me the PAC there and then!! Told them that I would think about it.

Hope you do better!

so them at t-mobile knows how to deal with this. Take the pak number, give them a week to get back with a better offer, if no decent offer get a new contract with someone else, for £70 a month you should be able to negotiate a free p900

This contract extension thing is a long-running scam. Whe they have promotions like these for new contract customers, they will say that existing customers can only benefit by signing a new contract exntension. This automatically removes your entitlement to an upgrade, but they don't tell you this (obviously). You're one of the lucky ones. I've had many customers who have been "done" like this, and there's not much you can do. You may have more leverage if you're a T1 (high-spending) customer.

Thank you very much funlovinkrim!!!

T-mobile said that they'll call me the instant the phone is released....yeah right!!!

Thanks to your advice, I called em, and guess what it is finally available on T-mobile, I'm getting it delivered at work tomorrow!! Yippeeee!!!

Price for the upgrade is mental though, £369.99!!! But thanks to a little whining, i've got em to give me a £180 discount and also the very early upgrade, so not too bad I guess....

Now all that I await is to see just how darn good the phone is!

Thanks again funlovinkrim!!!

I negotiated a maximum of £250 of towards my P800 last March when it was first launched. They offered me pretty much everything under the sun except more money off. I think they're limited to £250. Of course this may have changed now but i'm not sure. I guess i'll find out when i ring 'em up to upgrade. Already got a P900 but you can never have enough....

I spend approx 180 (140-230) a month but that is with two contracts, they have offered me 100 plus 80 when i moaned, they said that 180 is the maximum discount i could get.
But in the CPW mag it says that 200 is the max???
And someone previously said they got 150 plus the 80!

I have thown in the concept of orange doing it for 50 on a 45pm tariff but they wont budge and have stuck to 180 off each handset.

Can i possibly get more then this? are they lying that 180 is the max?

*****************************

Just got off the phone to the tmobile special upgrade team
0191 number, they say that i am in my 11th month and that i can wait till my 12th month but then i could lose my discount and only get 50 off.
They can send me one direct for 190£ if i wanted.

Also found out that they have guarenteed the price of 180 off but this is only for one month, yet the link say they wont get it for another 2-3 weeks which measn i have a week to get it or risk losing 130 off.

(reason i need the link is that i have a 4 year insurance only used the first, i know i can get a rebate but their insurance is good so want to keep it + i get a futher 25£ if i get it from the link due to the insurance)

Dan - did you manage to get any better from t-mob?

However much I tried, but best i got was an additional 80 on top of my 150.
This was avail once you are in the 11th month of contract, so you don't have to wait till the full 12m is up.

Also, helps if you pay by DD.

Good luck!

@radaas

They probably weren't lying, my experience with T-Mobile is they usually just don't know what day of the week it is. The max through CPW is £199.99, as of a couple of months ago, was previously £179.99. That's not to say that they won't make higher offers directly, but you'd have to go through them. As regards getting a better offer - the value they offer you is based on a calculation of your value to their business. Once you've pushed them to requesting a PAC code/disconnection, whatever they offer you then is the best you'll get!

What they said about you risking losing the discount is rubbish and just designed to frighten you into hurrying up and upgrading (then they get another 12 months out of you). If you were to call in the 15th month and request disconnection (providing your bills stay at the same rate) you would get equally as good an offer if not better (your value to them increases if you spend loads but don't upgrade so frequently!).

So, the answer is, now you know where you stand......go to Orange!

Is the O2 deal still on.

I got my P900 on O2 400 (£45 a month) for free so if you are spending £100+ a month with T-M why not just switch to O2 and save your £180 - or am I missing something?

got my phones in the end
got 2 for 290 on upgrade, 145 a piece. but i stuck with the 180 off each handset and got a further 25 off at the link cause i have their insurance.

I have been with o2 before and they ripped me off was not happy at all, plus the fact i have free weekends and evening after six, on mobiles and national calls.

i might have to sell one of them cause my girlfriend doesnt like it and wants something silly like a motorola v660/v300.

thanks for the advice,
