1.) Find a T630 screen,
2.) Fit it. |

RE:
1/ find t630 screen - No problem
2/Fit it - Problem.. according to a friend of mine at Ericsson it canīt be done, without replacing various other bits and pieces, but it can, and has been done. Helps immensly if you have free access to both phones + parts
Oh and another piece of information i got is that the T650 is NOT going to be released under that name, and itīs supposedly _really_ nice Thatīs about all I managed to get out of him, but his shit-eating grin looked promising

ThreeX, it is almost exactly the opposite of what you say
Fitting the screen is a very straightforward procedure; the T610 and T630 screens are physically identical, and can be freely swapped.
After the screen has been fitted, a simple flash of the T630 firmware is all that's needed to have it fully working. Nothing more is required; certainly no messing around with any other parts of the phone or anything.
Actually GETTING HOLD of T630 screens, however, I have found to be nigh on impossible at the moment.
If you happen to know of any stockists, I would be very grateful if you'd let me know

I am not guessing; all facts I have written are available all over the net. I have taken apart many T610's and a few T630's, and the screens are 100% physically identical.
There have been numerous reports of people flashing the T610 with T630 firmware and getting a fully functional phone bar the screen.
This Chinese thread: http://board.phonehk.com/viewtopic.php?t=51871
shows how someone got hold of a spare T630 screen and fitted it into a T616 with T630 firmware.
Nothing surprising there, very straightforward process. After all, the T610/630 hardware is identical bar the removable keypad membrane board (slightly different dome spacing), the main difference being the LCD driver software, hence the need to flash the correct firmware. |

So there is no problem putting T630 f/w on T610? Will service centres happily do this?
I would reckon changin the screen yourself invalidates all warranties though.

fannypad: I might have misunderstood my friend when he told me how they solved it at Ericsson. I will ask him again, and try to probe around for T630 displays at the same time, will let you know when/if i find them. Guess you can order a new one from any authorized service shop? Thatīs how i got my red front/batt. cover anyway, turned out to be cheaper than ThePhonehouse (Swedish mobile store) so who knows..

Mike: Nope, flashing incorrect firmware to a phone will invalidate its warranty regardless of who it's done by, thus you won't find any service centres that'll do it. And yep, opening the phone for any reason also voids the warranty.
ThreeX: There's nothing to solve really, just clip the new screen on, connect a cable and click on a few buttons.
As for the screen itself, I've rung a few authorised service centres in the UK, and none were able to sell me a T630 screen right now.
They'll be all over Ebay in several weeks time anyway |

Don't tell me u r gonna do this and possibly ruin a good T610, spend extra on a T630 screen and throw away a good stn T610 screen to do a stunt like that. I find it...useless.Get a T630 instead. But maybe u have nuthin'2do with the day time huh?
