hey y'all mac addicts and P900 dudes! hope ya can help me out here.
i just got my P900 this afternoon. i'm trying to synch it with my powerbook. sending pics to my 'book is fine and viceversa.
1.i just find it weird that when i pair it with bluetooth setup assistant, when i search for device and choose "mobile phone" it wont connect. but if i choose "other", it does pair up.
2.when i use isync on my P900, and add a new device, it would search but end up as no device found.
help will be highly appreciated!!!
3.by the way, is there any theme editor that we could use with our macs?
4.and for the P900 software update (that you could download from the net), can we do it with our macs via bluetooth or do we have to do it on a pc and cradle?
thanks in advance!
(i'm coming up with a cool P900 icon for our P900 folder and bluetooth. just holler up ya mac user!)
long live apple. long live sony ericsson! |

Hi that makes 3 of us here! (Mac P900 users!)
1.i just find it weird that when i pair it with bluetooth setup assistant, when i search for device and choose "mobile phone" it wont connect. but if i choose "other", it does pair up.
Hmm, don't know about that, I know I'm telling you to suck lemons here but try turning the phone on and off...
2.when i use isync on my P900, and add a new device, it would search but end up as no device found.
Sounds like the same problem as question #1 - looks like your mac's bluetooth isn't working as it should.. Using the USB dongle? or internal a la powerbook...
Have you installed/downloaded the latest bluetooth update? Have you got any other bluetooth things to try with the phone/mac?
help will be highly appreciated!!!
3.by the way, is there any theme editor that we could use with our macs?
None that I know of....
4.and for the P900 software update (that you could download from the net), can we do it with our macs via bluetooth or do we have to do it on a pc and cradle?
I'm pretty sure its a cradle thing only - You could try Virtual PC and the cradle?

For 1. and 2.: Update your Bluetooth software in Mac OS X to the latest version (1.4.1 for the Panther and 1.3.1 for the Jaguar). Both updates you can find on http://www.apple.com/support in download area.
3. No, but you can do it manualy. Try to find some tips in P800/900 forum here. You'll find there tips, how to make it with Photoshop an few othere utilities.
4. No, unfortunately there is no other way than f*u*c*k*i*n*g PC.

you can use the *spit* PC emulator to use the cradle. Bit of an expensive and slow solution (bout 150 quids) but its cheaper than having a PC just for installing apps.
what about bluetoothing the .sis files across to the p900 and using the phone's install function to install them? not a clue if this'll work but its worth a try for small files.
and finally......i found a MSDuo reader thats mac compatible and its fantastic when used with iMovie and iPhoto. I heard theres a lot of incompatible readers but the one by PCLine works fine.

you can bluetooth most small files to p900 and it will install, except for .jad and .jar files (car100...) Car doesn't work yet, but V-Rally did install via BT
oh and please help me complain to SE about the update thing! I want to be able to update too!!! Even though I don't like PC's

Panther Bluetooth software is @ version 1.5 now. Update to that, it stopped all my iSync problems, works like a charm now. Only thing that pisses me, is when pairing with the Address book, the P900 doesn't work for SMS, Call notification and stuff, and yet i've seen this work with my dad's 3650. I wish the P900 would do the same, i really like that feature. |
