Okay, I know this is a SE forum, but I had a chance to play with both 7200 and 7700 yesturday at Comdex in Gotheburg, Sweden. So I thought IŽll give you my thoughts.

7200:
It is very nice looking in flipped closed mode, BUT! opening the phone it actuallly looks terible and with a really small screen. I dont know what Nokia has been thinkning. The phone is nothing compaired to Z600. Holding the two phones next to each other Nokia was a big dissapointment. The screen is to small, it is difficult to read the text even though it had a tft display. Maybe I am to use to SE phones, but I could not see any logic in the meny set-up.

So, If you want to have a nice looking phone (when closed) I think the design is nice, but the rest... crap.

Nokia 7700:
This is the modell that is supposed to bet P900! At first glance I was supprised that it has a very plastic look. If you are going to pay allot of money for the phone I would expect a bit more expensive finish. The way to call is a bit difficult to explain but you would use the short hand side and put this into your ear.

The layout of the firmware was icon based. As far as I saw ore the Nokia sales rep. said there wont be any themes possible for the phone. However, the system itself was not so easy to understand. Finally getting a hold of it I did not find anything that the pX00 phones could not do.

So what is good about the phone. Well the Internet browser was a very nice plus. The only downfault was that you had to scroll to the left to se a hole web site. I think Nokia will with this phone have difficult to compeat with pX00.

New monster phone!
Talking to the sales rep., he revealed that Nokia will during this year launch a monster phone that "will make you throw away your laptop". He said that this will come out on eather Hanover ore L.A. What this could be is left to the unknown.

Cheers

Luc

Wrong. The new Communicator (also Series 90) is.

I'm sure you being used to SE menus had something to do with not being very familiar with the 7200. I come from a 5110, 7110, 3510, 8310, 7210 and N-Gage and I had troubles with a Z600 when I tried it last week. No doubts I could learn to use it as easily as any other phone.

Last year they said it's coming and later specified it would be announced in Spring. If it's a Series 90 device, we already know a lot. But it's their best kept secret, you won't find any pics yet

Mmmm you'd like to see it huh?
This is the long-expected one...

Be a little more patient.
Tiny hints:
bye bye old communicator "bricks"
P900 will be like a low-end phone

No, he's clueless but he's a die-hard Nokia fan. As usual,1 like this 1 hopes to b a gr8 phone but it'll b a crappy piece of plastic like the last ones.

As a matter of fact, yes.

But I couldnt agree more with you on 7200. It's ugly inside, far too big, and with too small a screen that wobbles when you shake the phone. Well, I dont like it at all.

And 7700 is horrible, but easy to hold and feels good in hand (poor looking design, but it is shaped for your hand). I liked playing with the Series 90. This is just the beginning...
