Most likely a java problem. The update service will attempt to install the latest Sun Java runtime, but if you currently have the Microsoft JVM installed, it may cause the installer to fail. There are several ways around this, but the easiest is to install Opera or Phoenix, and use that as the browser when you perform the update. These browsers will ignore the Microsoft JVM entirely..............

I had the same problem;
-first make sure your P900 isn't charging (pull the plug from the power socket)
-I don't know if you were using Manual verification mode (recommended) or Automatical verification mode, in my case I tried the first one a couple of times (no success).
Then I went for the second one, and it worked brilliantly.

New question:

1. When you perform a F/W upgrade, is you're phone empty (reset?) and you have to restore al settings?

2. I think the F/W upgrade is ONLY for the "organizer" part of the phone. Bluetooth en phone need to be done bij SE service center.

Is it???

i'm not totally sure but i think everything is updated incl. bluetooth aso...
i just updated mine and all settings are gone - but there is an option to recover the settings after updating if you backed up your phone.

not quite
1. more then once you are warned that you have to make a backup/sync before you do the update, even before the process actually begins you get the option to start a backup.
What I did was; make a backup first, do the update, do another backup of a clean phone, restore the old backup... all your settings are save, except for the voice(dail) commands they are not included in the backup.
Quote:
The safest option is to make a backup since you will be able to make a complete restore after the update, which will restore all your data, settings and applications the same way it was before the update.

A synchronisation saves all user data that you have defined in the synchronisation program but no applications or wap-settings etc.

Important: Voice commands (including the magic word, voice commands for busy and answer and all voice commands for your contacts) will be permanently removed after an update. Voice commands are NOT included by the backup program.

2. I went from;
Phone: CXC162022 R3A024 >>> CXC162022 R3C006
Bluetooth: CXC12529 R5D >>> same
Organiser: CXC162021 R1A05 >>> CXC162021 R2B02
CDA: CDA162003/2 R1A04 >>> CDA162003/2 R2C01
Bluetooth wasn't done, but I guess there wasn't an update.
you even get a change log, but I was to stupid to save it |:(

Every piece of firmware inside P900 can be upgraded, including Phone and Bluetooth functions. Everything as far as I know is on a flash memory inside the device. This makes P900 the best mobile on the market today because except for hardware problems service centers and waiting times ar going to be a memory of the past

From the FAQ (we should read that sometimes)
Last question:
Why can not the device be updated via Bluetooth or Infrared?

The update service updates the entire software, including for instance Bluetooth. This makes it impossible to use Bluetooth or Infrared as media for device software updates.
