Have tried SMan and closed all tasks.. have 1684k of free RAM:
The apps running are: (including "hidden" Tasks)
Flipkey 48k
SMan 136k
EiksrvBackdrop 528k (what is this???)
Applications 80k
Appicker 52k

and that's it!! I am getting memory errors when i try to take pics! (both to internal and external memory)...

Is this normal?? CAn you please give me your readings, using SMan 1.2??

Definitely NOT normal. Do you have an animated wallpaper running? A flip open picture? A screensaver running? All these things will reduce your available memory.

EiksrvBackdrop i think this is the skin youre unsing for tracker, the bigger the file gets the more complicated and bigger is the tracker skin, this is just my assumption, can anyone back this up for me, or am i wrong? i think it came along with the new tracker 3.2, a new feature [addsig]

Its not tracker, its present if Tracker isn't installed (I think).

Greetings everyone,

I kinda think that EiksrvBackdrop is related to P900 theme and/or wallapers & screensaver.

I got it since the day one.

Regards,

Symbian OS tends to "decay" after some use, the OS tries to clean the memory up and you can quicken the process by "compress heap" function in SMan, but if memory is low, just switch off the phone and restart.

If memory is low even after a restart of the phone, you most probably have some software doing naughty things.

EiksrvBackdrop is not part of the p900 theme or wall paper it was their in P800 as well. Its part of the OS I think. Some one please clarify

EDIT: Bowman in this thread just clarified that it is part of the OS

eiksrvbackdrop is part of the OS (eik as in EIKON, the old symbian 5 framework at the bottom )

Just a few steps down in the P800/P900 thread list.

Kill eiksrvbackdrop creates some problem, is an OS task.
Do not kill hidden tasks.

Just kill appz or reboot the phone.
(after 1 or 2 days it needs to be rebooted, also killing appz memory usage grow)
