Since some time my P800 has developed a problem. From time to time, without any apparent reason, it freezes and displays "Insert SIM Card" error. I have to turn the phone off and then turn it on again to restore normal operation. The problem is intermitent - the phone can work for few days without a problem - other days the error appears time after time only few minutes after turning the phone on. I restored the phone from a back-up file from my PC but no improvement. Please help.

I'm not familliar with the P800 but that sounds rather like a hardware problem to me. Especially since you've re-installed a backup and the problem still exists.

I had a similar problem once with my old Nokia (spit!) Kept refusing to accept that the SIM card was there, I had to take it back to the shop for repair in the end. I'd wait a bit for further comments from board users who know more about the P800 , but I'd bet that you'll need to take it in for repair

clean the contacts on the simcard reader, also check so they are in place. Also check the contacts on the simcard and clean them.

Just clean the contacts on the sim card. Worked for me in the past. Only try to clean the contacts on the sim card reader on the phone as last resort as it seems quite fragile to me!

Have you ever considered that your sim card may be damaged? If all else fails, maybe you should try to replace your sim card? It easier, faster and cheaper to change your sim card than sending your phone in! If all else fails, (cleaning sim card contacts, cleaning sim card reader on phone and changing your sim card) then we can narrow the problem down to the phone.
