Ok, well I just came accross this today, it could be old news, in which case delete it, if not then enjoy. I haven't tested it as I'm too lazy 2, but just thought I'd share it.
"1 Firstly you must have a o2 sim card installed into your mobile phone.(must
be the 300 text per month sim!)
2 Please note that there are different o2 sim cards, the 300 a month means
you have to put £10 in every month to recieve your 300 texts.
3 Once you have topped your sim card up with some credit you will find you
have the following;
£10 worth of talktime,
300 wap minutes,
300 texts.
4 Take notice of what date it is on your mobile phone when you top up.
5 Use your phone as normal for that month or until you run out of texts.
6 Once you have run out of texts, reset the date on your mobile phone to the
date when you first topped up and DONT USE YOUR PHONE THAT DAY!!
(meaning dont make a connection with anyone with your mobile but leave
turned on!!)
7 The next day you can change your date settings back to normal.
8 Now all you have to do is wait for the new month and you will recieve a
message from o2 saying"THANKYOU FOR TOPPING UP,YOU NOW HAVE YOUR FREE 300
TEXT MESSAGES"
9 IMPORTANT!! matter where abouts in that month you run out of texts,You
only(ONLY!)get a max of 300 texts per month so make sure you dont run out
halfway through the month as you will have to wait till the start of the new
month to get your free 300 texts."
hope someone finds this useful... |

Also interesting is that O2 quote 300 WAP mins. However, using GPRS (which is much better ANYWAY!) seems to go unchecked so giving U unlimited free WAP.

yeh, does that work with opera? And also all the ther tabs in internet accounts advanced settings. You've only gone through the first tab.
It still doesn't seem to work for me... |

All other tabs in ADVANCED remain the same as they are in a 'new' profile.
As for use with Opera Browser, I don't know cos I don't use it. |

The rates at the moment are quoted as giving the first 100kb free and then saying various amounts after that depending if you are a heavy or light user. I think they are the cheapest prices around on any 2g network. Not on the web now so cant give you exact price details but if you in to their website www.o2.co.uk you will find it.

GO HERE
It states :
"* From 1st February 2004, when you use O2 Active, you will be charged at a rate of £2.35 per megabyte. On average a page of information in O2 Active is 10 kilobytes depending on the amount of graphics and text. So every time you use O2 Active and download a page you are only charged for the amount of data you use, typically 2.3p per page. Plus if you use O2 Active a lot, from the 1st February 2004, you will be able to purchase an O2 Active Bolt On giving you almost unlimited usage of up to 5MB for just £4 a month. Usage over this 5MB limit will be charged at the standard pay as you use rate."

I think this is only applicable to 'normal' O2 sims. This thread is referring to O2 'online' sims (formerly know as Genie). These give 300 free texts and 300mins free WAP per month as long as you spend £10 or more per month or credit.
It is this that seems to have unlimitted free GPRS and has done for some time. I'd be surprised if this changed!
(it is also possible to change the 300 texts to 3other options)
"MMS25"- 200txt + 25MMS
"MMS50"- 100txt + 50MMS
"MMS75"- 0txt + 75MMS
I use MMS25. need to visit an O2 shop & get them to ring Genie to get these activated |

ye in australia we have prepaid wich is pretty much the same thing except u just get $25 (or watever amount you put on it) of calls/wap/sms.. but wen u send an sms it takes 2 days to charge it to deduct the 25cents from your credit, so wen u have 30cents or watever left u just sms nonstop for 2 days and all it costs is 30cents.. lol |

dazbradbury is wrong.
O2 don't use your phone timers to judge when you need to top up.
