Ok, so are you saying you haven't put any kind of finish on it? I'm wondering wether I should do that as I've got a good finish from the spray paint (used car spray paint)... But i'm thinking if I go with what mixin did and lacquer it, then use rubbing compund, will i get a much better finish? anyone?

looks good, all shiny which is nice
seems as though black is more common than blue these days though

Two things ...

Firstly... am I the only sado that's too scared to take his handset apart? I'd love ro change the colour but my arse tweaks every time I think about taking it apart.

Secondly ... I'd like mine black to match my motorbike and if anyone's really interested I'll willingly post a picture of it. I LOVE IT!

you dont have to actually take it apart
theres the two bits that tranquil mentioned that are only stuck on with glue. Of course it makes it easier to take it to bits first!
i was scared to open mine at first, but its not that complex inside it, youll easily put it together again and have it working

Ok, but did you wet and dry yours so it was dull before lacquering? That's what's reccommended on the can, but something hard to do on the edges where the coat is thin and I know I'll end up sanding through the coat of paint. Obviously I could put on a thicker coat, but i dont want to do that as it will look shit!

Anyway, how long did you wait before using rubbing compound too?? and does that really help?

Thanks for the info,

Daz.

you need to wet+dry to make it smooth. use a very very fine grain.
i used one called p900 actually should be finer than that though. rubbing compound aint neccessary.. i still did it anyway
waiting a couple of days before i put that on, but ideally you should wait 14days. i just got impatient

lol, I was looking for p1200, but could only find p600... I find that is I just get rid of the initial sharpness, then it should work fine, but it hardly takes anything off as it is. Anyway, I've just wet and dried one bit, managing to dull it down and not take off too much and have just lacquered it, hope it turns out well...

I should be lacquring the rest tommorrow if all goes to plan, so it'll be ready for tuesday! can't wait! Just hope I haven't trashed it.

thanks for the help mixin, I did email you a while back by the way, but got no response...
