Avatar is the desent to earth of a god in the Hinduism religion, how i am expected to stay true to this is anyones guess.
I'm not that keen on following religion.

why do you say that? i would agree that it is a Hindu concept which has been broadened by western society into a more general meaning, but not necessarily a bastardization of that idea. i know Christians who view Christ as an avatar of God, rather than His "son" in the biological sense.
