Just out of curiosity i tried to print out a contact detail - ie phone number and address from my P800 via infrared to my HP laserjet 2100.

They both have infrared and when i enable infrared on my p800 AND SAY SEND CONTACT VIA infrared i take the phone close to the printer and the printer responds as i can see the green light in the infrared port (on the printer) come on but after a few seconds of searching the p800 says could not connect????

does anyone know why.....i mean my office collegues cheap stupid 8310 does very easily allow the same printer to print out a number so why not the P800

Please help..........as i am being teased by my collegues they are all laughing at my phone !!!!

Take your friends 8310 and give it to the closest 12 year old so that they can beat his high score on snake and change the cover to incorporate winnie the pooh or some such. Then take one of your spare stylus' and stab it into the guys throat repeatedly until death (or the stylus snaps)

Well done Mixin, exactly what I was going to say. The 8310 isnt exactly the most advanced phone on the market, so pretty much anything the p800 does would blow his away

edit; You might wanna contact SE and see if it is compatible with that printer

You should get a bluetooth printer instead. Then the guy with the Nokia 8310 can try printing While you can print from anywhere in a 10m radius

I've printed photos to a Canon printer(forgot which model-its the one that prints via infra).. @ first it didn't work.. You'll have to leave your phone next to the printer for awhile.. Only then it'll print.. Well, that's the case @ first..

Try not to smooch ur IR port w/ the printer's. I think there should be a minimum range of 3inches. I tried to print thru infrared w/ my p800. At 1st it wont print because it was so close betwn IR ports. Then I moved my phone back about 5inches, the printer started its job. Unfortunately I cant remember what printer it was. Hope this help.

Perhaps the reason IR printing doesn't work with the P800 is that what you are in effect doing is SENDING a FILE.

Perhaps, what the printer requires is NOT a file to be sent but a string of codes that is interpreted for printing.

I guess the protocol used by the P800 is not compatible with IR printing.

And if my memory serves me correctly the NOK phones cant print to any IR enabled printer; it's only to some of them (HP printers especially I think)
