I just tried the CAR-100 today... really cool... cute too.. would love to have one, unfortunately, it doesn't support the P800!!!
Also tried the Z600... it's smaller than I expected... but it's VERY thick. Almost as thick as the P800... almost the same features as the T610, except the screen is a bit better. And the keys are bigger, so if you find the T610 keys kinda small, the Z600 keys are just right. Tried the game console attachment for the Z600 as well... nothing great... I wouldn't get one. Cool accessory for kids though. |

at almost 1" thick, I do NOT consider that 'pretty good for a flip phone' ... If there's anything that would get my to buy a clam phone, it would have to be 1/2" thick, meaning each half should be 1/4" thick MAX.
I find my P800 fat. I don't mind the height or width so much since it's mostly screen anyway, but I don't like the 1" thickness. I was hoping for something that would be 3/4" at the most for a communicator device.
The range of the CAR-100 is about 10 feet or so... didn't really get to push it since, if it drives out of range... it'll just keep going!!!
It's pretty fast...for a car that's that small... it turns well too... you need to play with it a lot to get the hang of it though... you get full control, forward, turns, reverse and brakes.
It's supposed to go on sale in November so that should be neat... now if only someone could make it work with the P800. |

It is. 1 1/16" thick to be precise.
It was specified at the SE website, 27mm it says.
It is expected.
But with all the features packed with the phone.
Its thickness may be justified.
Still, i have be see it for myself. |

According to yes it will. But then the email I got from them said it would work with all their Bluetooth phones, yet a lot of people reckon it won't work with the P800.

jrmi, the Z600 is basically just a T610 with a slightly better screen (same res, but easier to view in sunlight...no it's NOT transreflective) so for me, the additional bulk over the T610 is NOT justified.
Don't get me wrong, the Z600 is NOT ugly... nor do I dislike it. I actually was surprised at how nice it felt in my hand... but like the P800, it feels like crap inside your pocket... it's way too fat.
The CAR 100 does NOT work with the P800 as of the time I tried it the other day... they can be paired with each other... but the P800 has no joystick to control it! I tried the jog-dial, but it just scrolls through the menu of my phone
The CAR-100 is neat... you can use it around your house.. just don't let it run too far away otherwise it will just keep driving along when it's out of range. It's more fun on your desk, or around a small room floor... it's a gadget freak's version of those little Tamiya Racing cars. I'm estimating the cost to be about the same as a normal BT headset. So don't expect it to be dirt cheap.
Between the T610, and Z600... I would go for the T610 since I'm not fond of clam-shell phones in general. But the Z600 has a great design if you like clams... and the buttons feel really good... kinda flat, but they feel solid. And the 'flipping' action of the Z600 is great too... it snaps into place so it has 2 positions that can't be altered. The camera is just like the T610's as well. But it does have a small (very small) digital clock on the cover. Useful since this is a clam, but not very well designed into the cover flip IMO. |
