Although you can pre-order the sticks from expansys they will not dispatch or charge your card until they have them. Expansys are a reliable seller & l think they must have got information from a sony that they will be getting a 256MB card that will work with our P800's. They have pictured the navy blue duo and blanked the size out so they don't know what it looks like but they post the pro duo product code up there which might mean I will get a Pro duo as I pre-ordered the advertised stick previously. I just hope that the stick is good else I will sue Expansys for lying to me

Ok I just received the PRO DUO 256MB ordered from sonystyle.com in the US, put it in my P800 and it doesn't recognize it! My computer is even freezing up when I put it in my memory card adapter... so the PRO DUO doesn't work for the P800, now when the regular 256mb DUO, not pro comes out, that'll be another story...

@theslayer

could you post some photos to show that it doesnt work. I am undecided about if it works or not right now but i think that a firmware upgrade will fix the problem. btw, what firmware do you have on your phone? as that may affect the readability.

@TheSlayer.... 256mb DUO doesn't exist and will never be architecture of a MS Duo doesn't allow it, that's why they bring a Duo Pro out...

@ Sage.... again a non-working DuoPro on P800, this make 6 !!! you are still the only one who saw it working ;-l lolllllllll

Hay man you did not have to buy the DUO PRO to see if it works or not! you just needed to ask me!!!

What is going on here..... I posted in a theard that I have tested a PRO Stick. I have stated that there is no different to Duo and standard. Which means and I will say again to people that did not here it.

If the PRO stick wont work then the Duo Pro wont work!

@Zen

Sure you testED the MSPro with P800. But when and under what Organizer version?

Becareful with your choice of words. When you say "Won't" it mean "WILL NOT". Unless you are in the decision maker for SE(P800)you certainly is not in the position to use "WILL NOT" in this matter. It is up to SE to make it work for P800 or not in the future. My feeling say YES. Maybe what Sage saw is the work in progress.

It is probably possible to make a MS duo 256mb, in the same way Sony made normal MS 256mb - using the bankswitching technique (essentially sticking 2*128mb together, and flicking between them). Not ideal, but I'd probably buy one.

Or maybe was Sage just dreaming that he saw a DuoPro in a P800...lol

No reliable source (firm, etc...) who has tested it could make it (DuoPro, Pro) work on a P800 with the latest firmware. Only 2 firms and 5 persons have tested it (that i know, and could read) ; and only Sage saw it works (??) ... strange.....

If you look at the table of MemoryStick, you will see that not ALL products using Duo will be (hardware) compatible with the DuoPro, that's a fact... and no one can answer the question if the P800 will ever be, even with new firmware compatible with it...
We all just hope, but i also beginning to think like most here.. It will never work (hardware!)

@lulu,

I don't think that the hardware is an issue... the Duo Pro has been created to be backward compatible with old hardware. All MS Duo hardware reads/writes in serial mode, all MS Duo hardware is compatible.

Firmware is the only issue.

This is not true if you believe what MemoryStick.com is writing... they clearly are saying that NOT ALL deveices MsDuo will be compatible with MsDuoPro.... take a look at this :
http://www.memorystick.com/en/support/support.html
and look for compability. Like you cna read.... no always compatible

@lulu,

I'm familiar with the site, and the facts... it doesn't mention hardware in the smallprint anywhere. It does say...

"Firmware or software upgrade makes it possible for some products in specific product categories to make use of the high capacity of Memory Stick PRO media."

This simply means that some items can be upgraded (e.g. hopefully the P800) and others can't (presumably because they can't accept firmware updates).
