I did a full format of the phone. It cleared all the unwanted stuff and I started back to square one.

Reinstalled everything that i needed and the phone feels much faster now.

If you have uninstalled the application and only the folder and .ini file are still there in you apps folder (sometimes others) then it should be safe to just delete the folder.

Thats what I do and have done on previous EPOC/Symbian devices I have had without any problems.

You do at your own risk of course and do a backup just before to be safe.

Doing a full format and reinstall of everything is a bit extreme.

If you want a totally fresh start, which I would recommend maybe twice a year just to keep your p800 running on top condition, you have to do a mater reset.

Make a note of all the apps you have installed and download the sis files again and keep these safe for next time you want to master reset. Make sure you keep a seperate copy of all your photos, mp3's, ringtones etc so you dont lose them as you will not be using a backup. Also remember to sync your contacts and stuff so you can get these back easily.

Then master reset the c:/ and format the ms. Then just start again as if it is a new phone.

Good luck.

I think you can use windows address book as well? But I am not sure if that comes with windows or another application.

You can use windows address book. That's the one I use. And by outlook, you should be able to use the free version you get with Internet Explorer (if you got that one).

U can always rip out the contacts.cdb file from ur backupfile by renaming it to ****.zip and put that back on ur phone
c:\system\data\contacts.cdb

make sure u use a copy of the backupfile

@mannequin
do you mean smsing all your contacts. if so it maybe a whole lot of smses and you might have to send it to another p800 as a lesser mobile would lose some of the individual contact info.

@psikey
@Jah

Ur welcome i did post this trick before in some other thread but i cant remember where

@mannequin

If ur asking would the same trick olso work on sms yes this trick should work on nearly everything in ur p800 the only prob with sms is the that some files might be locked so the only way 2 get that job done is with p800 pc filemanger make sure ur flightmode is on

make a backup before doing this.

Start the program p800 pc filemanager

again start making a new backup, but When u see the P800 saying "backup in Progress" cancel the backup. dont start the phone
leave it in cradle.

this will allow u 2 access the p800 from pc filemanager and control the p800 and be able 2 copy what ever u want.

ur sms files are stored in the c:\system\mail\ on ur p800
so from the backup in \system\mail\ u could then put them back

make sure u have a good backup before doing this
