I do NONE of those input methods, i use the little virtual qwerty keyboard, its faster than T9.(i can even fast input with my fingernail) specialy good for sms, mms, website address's & calendar input. can't really use it on the move though...
The answer to your question is NO CHANCE (if its not available already, it aint EVER gonna happen)

There is however in the control panel under input, a pull down menu..at the present time you can only select multi-tap, but if SE put this option in, surely it would be a matter of time for them to include T9??

Don't see what the fuss is about -the virtual qwerty keyboard is genius if you ask me...

I mean, with the flip keyboard, who on earth would want to use that for the composition of SMS etc??

There is an alpha here which we talked about in this thread: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=33784&forum=35 and it can be downloaded from here: www.smartphoneitalia.com
I haven't tried it, since I like the qwerty keyboard. And it'st just an alpha. I just downloaded it.

thats the point: the virtual keyboard is much too small. its impossible to input something if one is walking.

well considering the P800 is not exactly just a phone but a phone cum PDA, and considering using the flip buttons are difficult to press in the 1st place, so i find, I dont think there ever will be T9 for this phone from SE.
I couldnt even imagine trying to txt constantly with the flip on (get urself a REAL phone for those txt addicts), I nearly always open the flip coz wotever bozo designed the SMS software on the phone should be shot coz I have found that if ur recipitent has more than 1 number, the phone seems 2 select the number for u even if u mite want to chose between the numbers like on the T68i!
Also a linked issue with this is I dont file numbers as mobile(h) and mobile(w) coz when I sync with Outlook it only saves 1 mobile number! I dont know where they got their programmers from, cloud cookoo land mayb...
