A t610 clamshell, if/when released, will be named Zxxx, like all other SonyEricsson clamshell models...take the Z1010 for example.

But the Z1010 is a UMTS (3G) device? The Z-series is for UMTS devices I'd say. And also Samsung have a UMTS device called Z100.

The z series was the sony name for flip or cam shell phones ie z5 and z7 and used by se for z700 and z1010 and hopefully z610. And people say sony bought nothing to the party! Also people say that you cant call a phone something because samsung have a phone called that but samsungs attitude to phone names seams to be think of a letter and then a three digit number and that will do!

this might sound stupid but does the "t" in the "t" series just stand for telephone?

The SE Clam phone is going to be as "alike" the T610 as the 3510i s like a 7210. there will be very littel in common, other than the "Platform" used..
Face it, SE is just doing a Nokia, realeasing differnt phones with differnt looks, and features, but the same underlying platform. This is good in the long run. So when u say the "Clam version of the T610", you shoudl in fact me saying. "Clam phone based on the same platform the T610 is based on". Now that SE has a stable platform, they can use that to rapidly create new phones.
BTW, as an aside point, the Platform is still made by ERICSSON, SE is a liscensee, who customises it.

If you go to the ericsson web site you can see what the platform is capable of, it seams to have been developed with se in mind, though from memory samsung htc and siemens also licence it.
