I'm going to buy a new phone.. I've looked at the new Panasonic comming in october, and I didn't like it.. it was to girly

My thoughts was to buy the SE T610, then I realized that the Microsoft QTEK 7070 was out on the market, and I have to say I like it. It looks nice and the software is really nice to... you have memorysticks, mp3-player, videoplayer and everything a phone should have. It's like a "computer"...

What phone do you think I should buy? And why? The QTEK is more expensive though, but maybe cooler? I don't know if it have a cam though..

i was given a smarphone when i attended the microsoft mobius event and have used it for quite a long time.

objectively i should say to you that you must firstly know what are your needs. both phones do a lot of cool stuff, but t610 is not a smartphone, it's a feature phone. the difference is that smarphones run *real* operative systems like symbian 6 and 7, palm os, linux or this microsoft smartphone os. with such os's you can install new applications that take true advantage of the possibilities of each device. this is, not only java. they usually have more memory, more processor, etc. but, are you going to use all that? i mean, t610's synchronizing options (great), java and mophun applications may be more than enough.

there's something else. all smartphones (except the intel prototype, not for sale) are pretty big and thick. especially the model you mention is the biggest one. imagine a p800? well, they're as tall as a p800, same thickness, but just a little narrower. you can see the photos i took at möbius here: www.clubsonyericsson.com/luiscamino/microsoftparis.htm there are some comparison photos.

last thing. smartphones have one really cool accesory, the foldable soft keyboard. look it up in that gallery. i was also given one of this and it's really really great and comfortable to use and carry.

BUT, is the ms smartphones my recommendation? not really... they're feature packed, powerful and full of possibilities. but they're a hell to use. the os interface is simply the WORSE i've ever used. remember old motorolas? man oh man, put 65k colors on that ones and you get ms smartphone os. i tell you, i have one, but I DON'T USE IT AT ALL. it makes me sick. everyone of the other 25 attendants to the mobius agreed on this; microsoft needs to develop a new user interface.

on the other hand, everyone seems to be happy with their t610. i mean, it doesn't have as much memory or processor as smartphones but... as an overall, it's a more coherent device. not to mention it's almost half the size/weight of a smartphone, almost same screen, way more beautiful and sure the battery lasts longe.

hope i have helped you.

Hehe... I have a little difficulties trusting Microsoft... but hell, I don't think I will experience so many softwaresfailures on a cellphone like in Windows If i get a bluescreen on it, I will change back on the day.. hehe Well, don't know yet if I'm going to buy it.

I know it doesn't have bluetooth, but I thought that since it have USB I don't need it...I'm just using Bluetooth to transfer files from pc to cellphone.. not wireless hardware.

Personally I think the phone looks great.. does it have a cam?

Thank you very much for your information and suggestions, I appreciate it!:) After reading what you've written I must confess that I don't want a QTEK 7070 for now. I understand what you are writing and I totally agree. I'm looking for a small phones that are userfriendly interface and software -- and that's where the T610 comes in.

After thinking a little more I understand that I don't need all of it's features.. The QTEK is probably very good for the use it's born to be. But as I said, I don't need it.

The QTEK is more like a PDA right? It's a PDA with cellphones features, the T610 is a cellphone with PDA features.. and it's userfriendly, smaller and lighter.

I've made up my mind, I will certainly buy the T610 =)

Thanks again

i am no fan of the spx but thought i would put a few plus for it
the one in the top pic link is the new spvx which is an updated version and i believe it has bluetooth etc on it
also another plus is you can update the software in the comfort of your own home
no dragging the phone down to the service centre twice a week to get the lastest sw only to find out it a laungue update which you can use
i also read that the spvx is now a bit thinner and smaller
