DSS-20 recognized as DCU-11 in XP ! Help ! |
srosa Joined: Jul 12, 2002 Posts: 16 PM |
Hi,
My DSS-20 is always discovered as a DCU-11 so I can only backup
but cannot sync. I have tried everything like uninstalling the DCU-11 drivers and so on. Even deleting the files in system32\drivers -> They come back.
Furthermore I never get a wizard I just get a tiny icon in the traybar that says "New USB device" and short after "DCU-11 Device" but I have no chance to specify drivers or right click on it. How is that ?
Thanks !
Stephane

you need to get the specific dss-20 drivers from sonyericsson.com ... what is the dss20 anyways? havent really seen any solid info on it...

I *have* the dss-20 drivers (Data Sync Station?), they are
downloadable from sonyericsson site.
The problem is that I seem to have plugged the bloody craddle
BEFORE installing the software, so this stupid xp took its own
driver for some DCU-11 cable instead.
Now I have no way to make it forgot this driver and take
mine...

Can't you just delete the DCU-11 from your hardware settings and start all over again? |

I tried everything. First of all the ONLY driver on the CD is for the
DCU-11 (a simple cable). Uninstalling this driver from the system
manager does NOT delete it and it will be automatically reinstalled
upon reboot. the ONLY way to kill it is to run the UninstallDriver.exe
from the CD's Drivers directory.
I downloaded the DSS-20 drivers from the site. When the wizard
appears, selecting the DSS-20 directory does not work, it says that
no hardware matches or something.
Installing the DSS-20 drivers manually is impossible because of an
exclude clause in the .inf file. I changed that and where able to
install them by the Add Hardware panel.
It didn't work upon reboot, the system still wanted another driver.
I compared the DCU-11 and DSS-20 drivers and modified the Hardware
ID in the DSS-20 to make it match the DCU-11. But the DSS-20 driver
is split into two parts, a USB driver and a PORT driver. I tried all
combinations on Hardware ID. My mileage DID vary.
At this point in time, I have no clue how any of you were able to
get your XP asking for a DSS-20 driver.

When I look in XP Device Manager I appear to have the DCU-11 connected to my USB port. I can't find any mention of a DSS-20. I'm not bothered as I can sync and backup/restore with the phone and it seems to be stable.

It seems so that the drivers for DSS-20 downloaded from SE website do not work, so you will have to get a CD that contains these drivers. My CD is version 1.3.0 and it contains those drivers - I was able to plus the DSS-20 to my Windows 98 computer and everything seems to be working OK.
DSS-20 as far as I understand is basically the same as DCU-11, and at some point they started shipping it instead of DCU-11. |

Hi, I had this too on Win XP Pro, but have solved most of it by....
1. unplugging the SyncStation cable
2. uninstalling the entire SonyEricsson phone suite (I have v. 1.4.2 I think)
3. reinstalling the entire SonyEricsson phone suite
4. plugging-in the syncstation.
I can now back-up and sync everything - except my calendar - any ideas?? Contacts etc., all fine, just no calendar data - does anyone know why?? |
