Yes, I would like to know this as well, as I currently carry my second SIM card in the battery compartment and swap them when I need to. |

you can copy your sim cards, into one sim card. so you don't have to swap and don't need extra non-original hardware

Thanks in advance

I have heard of a single sim card which has two sims in it provided by the operator and the connections are just placed on both side.To select u still have to switch of your mobile phone and switch it on again or something like that.I had seen this done by one of the intelectuals on my symbian forum...check search there..
I still use P800 and a t100...sad but true.
In India though orange does provide 2 mobile numbers on the same sim card...pls check with your local operator

I'd like to have two identical SIMS. One in my 'handbag' phone (for want of a better expression) which is my T68i for the weekend and one in my P800 for during the week. I know that if they were both switched on simultaneously they would cause confusion so I would need to make sure they weren't on together.
Is this possible? How would I do it? Do I need two identical SIM cards copied or will Orange provide it?
Cheers.

there is a kit sold here that is only for nokia phones, which consists of a little chip with some wiring to a connection sim card, which is inserted in the phone sim slot, and the actual 2 simcards are connected with all kinda flat wiring to this "connection sim", and when switching on the phone it will ask which card it should use. All so flat it fits in battery compartment. But as said, only for (cheap) Nokia phones. Think of the letter Y and you get an idea how the kit looks with these sim cards. |

@teamedition,
Sorry mate, PC-Mobile is talking crap. In the UK, at least, it is totally legal. So legal, in fact, that the service is provided by Vodafone Connect, a service provider for the largest mobile phone network in the UK!
Unfortunately, they are the only UK provider to offer this service and Orange, as yet, are unable to provide it.
You could port your number to Voda - it is a system whereby one SIM is 'active' and the other 'dormant' and you are able to switch between them by switching one off and the other on. The most popular application of this is people who have fixed carphones and wish to use a separate 'handbag phone' (to user your phrase ) with the same phone number.
Hope that's of some use,
Dave

Dave,
That's very useful - thanks for that. I thought I'd heard of it but I guess not on Orange.

I have been reading about having more than one contract/number on one SIM card!!! Does anyone know anything about this everything I found was very vague about how it works, or does anyone have any latest info on a dual sim adaptor for the P800 |

Cloning your SIM card isn't allowed on UK networks - although it doesn't really matter, as some people have said, it doesn't work with newer (newer doesn't really mean that new, any from quite a few years back now won't work) SIM cards. Voda do have the two sim cards to one account dealie, but you have to pay £10+ every month
line rental on the other card too (for which you don't get anything extra), plus the cards are not identical - there is effectively a 'master' and a 'slave' card. I seem to remember that only the master will receive and can send messages etc etc; the 'slave' card really is designed for carphones where you simply need to receive/make voice calls - nothing else.
As for dual SIMs- the ghost sims fit in the P800 (got a 7210/6610 one from here ages ago http://www.fonefunshop.co.uk/dualsim/dualsimcovers.htm). They do have to have the bus cable folded over for that one (the 6610 one) but i'm sure one design would be right for inserting in the P800 and not having to fold the cable. Anyway, mine fits once you spend a minute with it, and then sits quite comfortably over the battery.

I used to have two SIMS on the same number. It was from Vodafone and called MultiSim. BUT you could not use GPRS with them just the phone. Vodafone was always promising a release that would allow GPRS but it never happened until I finally switched back to one SIM. Maybe thay have fixed it now - I do not know. If they have they do't say much about it. I was always surprised they kept it a secret. I found it buried in one of their dealer manuals.
If they could fix the GPRS then it would make a great idea and I am sure plenty of people would want it. |
