Animated screen savers consume battery energy, so I don't like using them. What about non-animated ones? Is the OS program (?) moving the .gif clever enough to save battery in that case?

Hmmmmm, the whole purpose of a screen saver is to keep an image moving so as not to burn into the screen. I suppose, technically, a non-animated screen saver is called "wallpaper"!!

You are right of course - in theory. Look at the screen saver you are using on the P800. How many percentages of the screen is truly moving? All the rest is burning :-)

So, IMHO, in our case the animated screen saver is for fun only - and against battery.

Yes, we can call it a full-screen wallpaper. What I ask is whether the still picture consumes battery like the animated one, or not.
