Get it flashed at a service centre - only way we know.
You committed the cardinal sin of not fully reading up before changing these! I've made long posts, testing with other members here, at my-symbian and allaboutsymbian - came to the conclusion that you MUST NOT (we stressed this quite well! ) have sound in your startup video, else the phone does exactly as you've described, and you need to take it to a servicecentre.
To summarise the whole thing: Shutdown videos may have sound if you wish, no problem. However, startup videos must not contain any sound - the originals and the orange one's don't contain sound either. You might hear sound, but that's not the video playing that - that's popcorn.wav being played simultaneously, and therin lies the problem. For some reason, SE made it so that the startup anim plays at the same time as this wav file, rather than just allowing you to have a video CONTAINING the sound, like you can do for shutdown vids. Thus if your startup vid contains sound, it conflicts with the phone trying to play popcorn.wav at the same time, and crashes every time. The only possible way to overcome this (not fully tested by us) is to make your silent video, then have a separate sound stream, which you can save as popcorn.wav in the custom folder (C:/sysdata) - this may override the normal popcorn.wav startup sound in Z:/system/data, thus allowing you to play custom sound with your custom video, but as i said, you try that one at your own risk.
If it's any consolation, the phone is fine after a firmware flash - just hope you've got a service centre nearby! Goodluck mate |
