P800 voice control problem |

OK, I've recorded my Magic Word, Answer and Busy words.
Now, I have my Magic Word feature DISABLED as it eats up the battery. However, the Voice Answer feature is set to ON. Still, everytime I receive a call I CANNOT answer it by using Voice Answer -- the phone just does not appear to hear me (I even shouted a couple of times, just in case . I don't remember exactly, but I did not seem to have this problem with Magic Word enabled.
Logically thinking, since in Phone Preferences these two options (Magic Word and Voice Answer) can be set separately, I should be able to use them independently from each other, right? The question is: what's wrong here? The user's manual says nothing specific about this issue.
Useful thoughts are highly appreciated!

Neither one of you specified what mode you use your P800 in...
The Voice Answer/Reject work only when the P800 is connected to a handsfree device (Bluetooth or wired)
Magic Word has settings for when it will be made active:
-handheld
-handsfree (wired only)
-car kit (wired or Bluetooth carkit)
The Voice Answer/Reject will not work if the phone is just used as a handheld...for obvious reasons, the phone must be in your hands if you don't have a handsfree device right? |

i dont see this problem with mine,
i allways leave the magic word off because of it eating up battery and when sumone calls i say anser and it does...
the only thing is it will only work on mine if i have the on screen keypad on or have the real keypad on and activated |

Many people had this problem, and it occured to us that the phone does not support as many as voicecalls as people think, just delete some of ur voice calls that u think u wont use... u will see IT WILL WORK AGAIN !!!
The P800 supports only a few voicecalls, i dont know the precise nr but i know for sure it should work...!
If not reply and we will tell u the other solution...

jplacson,
It is either my English is not good enough, or I must be missing something in the user's manual . Nowhere does it say that I should be in handsfree mode to use Voice Answer.
As far as I understand, this feature, in addition to handsfree, was designed to provide the comfort of not touching your phone and answering incoming calls by voice (when you seat in the office and, say, is typing, and your phone is on the table).
Following the last reply from sweet-heart, I deleted my voice commands (I did not have them too many, but anyway...), and I did NOT work. I still cannot answer incoming calls by voice. I DO remember, when playing with the just-arrived p800, this function was working. What's happened since then, I don't really know...

Rturro,
Firstly, forget the crap about too many voice commands. No more likely to cause the problem than having too many pictures! That's a memory issue.
jplacson's right but you misunderstood. It doesn't have to be in h/f mode... indeed there is no such thing, but the magic word only functions if you are using a handsfree device at the time. You can't use it otherwise. Same goes for voice answer/reject.

Did you play out your answer audio sequence?
If you recorded it using the plain old P800 microphone, the audio quality is terrible.
I recorded mine using the headset and it now works much better when in handheld mode too!
The magic word was simply detected too many times for me, so I had to disable it. I would talk to people and suddenly hear the beeping of the phone waiting for me to say who to call. I tried simple phrases and also some really complex ones. I think this mode really needs more work from SE. |
