Hi to everyone,

Why does it seem that Photos taken from a Nokia 3650/7650 is far more colorful than our SE p800 ON THE PHONE’S ALBUM ( though I am an devoted SE user ) I had to admit that Nokia’s photo is clearly better( hard to swallow my pride )

Question: 1. Had my eyes deceived me?

I had asked several people who were impartial cell phone user, 7 out of 10 say Nokia’s Photo is better.

2. Had Nokia gotten the best of Sony Ericsson in terms of digital photo imaging? ( Every SE user, swallow your pride pls. J )

Pls. Give me a unbiased answer.

On the phone itself will depend on the screen. Nokia made their screen colors very warm, so on the screen the Nokia pictues look good (though I have no complaints about how the P800 screen displays it).

Once you put in on a Pc though, the P800 pictures are massively better.

Ok... I've compared both cameras and here's what I've found:

At their BEST settings (640x480), in MOST conditions, straight from the phone->PC, Nokia cams take better photos.

BUT... (and this matters to me) the P800 photos are actually tweakable in Photoshop. I tried adjusting a 7650/3650 photo in Photoshop, and so many artifacts, pixelizations came out... Photoshop users, try it... even just adjusting contrast/brightness brings out so many blocks & compression defects. 7650/3650 photos were not meant to be retouched.

The P800 gives photos that allow retouching.

This matters to me because when I take a photo w/ a phone cam that's meant to be emailed later on, I will retouch it.

This is where Nokia has the upper hand... at the 640x480 setting, straight from the phone...no retouching.

But at the lower settings... for MMS, or just viewing on the phone... I find that the P800 takes clearer photos.

Indoors or outdoors? I've had the exact opposite effect. For me, same people, 2 phones, the P800 took great pictures, the 7650 ones were CRAP.

Well... I can actually get good shots from my P800 in any setting. Even in dim light, I just have a setting which I like, then I just pump up the brightness in Photoshop. Other than low-light conditions, I can get better shots from my P800 than the 7650.

I did my 'experiment' using auto settings on both phones.

But if you know how to tweak the controls on the Communicam, you'll get better shots all the time... except in low light cuz the 7650 has gain & shutter settings. The P800 doesn't... but this can be fixed with a SW upgrade.

Unbiased? Ok.

I can only compare 7650 and P800, since I have them both.

Wieved on a pc:
P800 wins clearly when you take a photo in daylight, and not too close up. Absolutely crap in poor light, not that good close ups.
7650 wins when the light gets dimmer, indoors or evening shots, takes much clearer close up pictures. Outdoor pics are very blurry at the edges, tends to be bluish photos.

On screen:
7650 presents a clearer picture with more color. It may have something to do with the thouchscreen.

I saw a pic taken by the 3650, it seems to outperform both 7650 and P800. It combines P800's very nice outdoor capabilities with 7650's excellent indoor/close up sharpness.

Mca-2x is much like P800, maybe even slightly better, but can't be compared in any way when it comes to easy using.

The 7650 do take crappy pics once transferd to pc. I use my mca 20 during day shots and 7650 during night shots. I dont's really like the ghost effect the 7650 takes when the people are moving
