Gsmarena says apps read Oppo/OP cam as imx888. Wasnt it exclusive?
Who owns the imx898? Considering its specs , seems ultra overpowered.
Interesting to see the structure of imx888 is kinda different from one used by iphone 15.
Photodiodes seem shorter than xperia's , but wider.

Saw on weibo papersheet of 989. Nothing impressive, to me seems just bigger version of 766.

I don't think it really matters. SSSG will make tons of 888 variations if they are being paid to do so. Apple knows why they did what they did even if there is no benefit to it in the final result. Or there are some benefits to their pipeline or who knows what.

I thought 888 would be renamed as Lytia for Chinese ODM with, of course, slight variations. It seemed to me Xperia would keep Exmor branding while all others would be shifted to Lytia.

Looks like SS calls 888 as LYT800, while "Electeonics" still call imx888. Because doc from SS says LYT800 is first DL sensor.

Xperia has been overtaken by Pixel in terms of popularity (Google search) in Japan.

https://sumahodigest.com/?p=24091
As the article itself says, thhe steady decline in user interest is in some ways more serious than the decline in shipments.

Pixel A is by far more popular than vanilla and pro. Difference between 7a and 7 are not much.
Now compare 10 and 1. The 1 offers much more, but at 3x the price.

How to solve this? Making 10 better, while keeping it below €500.

How to make 10 better? Slap 6g1 inside 5iv. Simple.

at least one next-generation Xperia model is "confirmed" to be released with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

Looks like all devices run on snapdragon. Last mediatek was Ace 2 in 2021.
Besides 8g3, I have zero idea what chips may be used.

Qualcomm should make a 6g2 with dual A720 + hexa A520. It would be awesome.

Is this real? Person claims 5.7".
If my math is not wrong, phone with 5.7" 21:9 would be like 14,7cm x 6,3-6,6cm (depends on how thick are side bezels). Basically as tall as Z phones, but about as wide as XZ2c.

6" down to 5.7" is hardly earth-shattering (e.g. see here). Down to 5.5" begins to make some useful difference in my opinion.

Well honestly 1V is the best 1 since 1II despite not having improved display or two other cameras compared to 1IV

According to Canalys, sales between jul - sep/23 in Japan were 13% better compared to jul-sep/22.

BONUS: Overall sales revenue between jul-sept/23 was more than 20% lower compared to jul-sept22. Obviously 5v is failing to sell. Probably worse than 5iv.
