I see, I agree with that fact as well.

Here's a decent video from MWC showing off the eye auto focus, even in burst mode and a view using each of the 3 lenses:

Interesting to note at the end they ask why Sony went with Dolby Atmos when they have their reality audio tech. The answer is reality audio is more geared for music and Doby Atmos is more for cinema.
And another one also showing off eye AF and a bit of the cinema pro app

Found this article where Trustedreviews spoke with Adam Marsh, Sony's sensior manager of global marketing about this phone:
https://www.trustedreviews.co[....]ng-alpha-style-cameras-3666962
Some highlights:
The Sony Xperia 1 also processes photos in the same way as Alpha cameras, according to March. “Normally when you take a picture, the phone will then compress it into a JPEG and then add the noise reduction. How Alpha does it is that it takes the Raw image, adds the algorithm to reduce the noise on the Raw image, then compresses it to JPEG, then you put noise reduction on top. That’s how Alpha is doing it. From Xperia 1, that’s how Xperia 1 will do it as well”, he said.
Also
There have also previously been issues with interdepartmental rivalry stifling collaboration, Marsh admitted. “Even though we’re one company, there are still sometimes barriers that Alpha doesn’t want to give Mobile certain things, because all of a sudden you have the same as what a £3,000 camera’s got.
“Now that barrier’s gone a little bit. They’re saying “okay, we see that having a smartphone and camera that gives you the same experience is a good thing”, he added.
Great news all around. Also discusses why they didn't go with the 48 megapixel sensor. Should be interesting to see how they continue down this path |

“So from a noise reduction point of view, it’s going to be massively improved compared to even XZ2 Premium. That’s going to be a big step up”, he added.
there are big claims, i hope these are true. |

I can't find any evidence about RAW image capture on the official page at all. What I can find is that Xperia 1 has RAW noise reduction.

from trustedreviews
"Marsh also confirmed one feature that Sony fans have been craving for years – being able to access their Xperia camera’s Raw files for editing. The Xperia 1 supports Raw extraction for the first time, so you’ll be able to grab the file using a third party Android app."

Yes, Ok. That's nice. So that mean we can finally use Google Camera App if stock app still unreliable.

A closer collaboration with Alpha is a definite, thanks to the management change that’s happened in Tokyo with Mobile now belonging to Imaging.
I think that should be highlighted |

I hadn't heard that. Can you link to an article where it's stated mobile is part of imaging? |

Japan likely to be the first county to receive Xperia 1.
Docomo version (SO-02L) is scheduled to be released in the second half of May.
Edit: now that X1 will be released at end of May in some other countries too, Japan is probably to be "one of the first countries" to get it.
Bonus:
Xperia 1 is not exclusive to docomo in Japan, will be released from all three operators. but it will be on presale on docomo at the last half of May (maybe end of May), other two operators follow in a few weeks
btw, Xperia 1 only has 128GB, no 64GB anywhere including in Japan.

A lot of grumbling about battery size but if you check the GSM Arena endurance tests you'll see that phones with massive batteries aren't as good as you'd expect, Note 9 and S9 have very similar results despite OLED etc. Actually, XZ3 is in line with those with supposedly amazing battery life.
Every user will have a different profile, I get 1 full day on the XZ1 but can stretch my XZ2 Compact to 2 and a half days. |

Honestly, I am very tempted with the Xperia 1. Though, my only gripe with it is the lack of front firing stereo speaker. Really sad that they removed it. Personally, I wouldn't have minded the extra couple mm on the chin if they retained the speaker. Probably going to wait until the 5G version gets released. Depending on the price, or any additional upgrade it may carry, might replace my Pixel 2 XL with it.
Like every one said, kind of disappointed about the lack of wireless charging. Would really be nice to have! |

Even gsmarena has removed qi charging it's kind of sad along with battery capacity but the phone is great |

can anyone translate what he is saying?
I know it's about alpha, xperia, and JDI, but google translate doesn't make sense.... |

Translation:
There's a reason why the relationship between alpha and xperia division is bad.
For example, there was a case about JDI production capacity, where Xperia took away the capacity for good displays that were originally planned to provide alpha cameras, resulting in alpha cameras not able to include good screens.
