I was watching an advert the other day where they make the point that the software is built around the hardware and vice versa, that was absolutely bang on. Apple do things very well, they can get great performance on their OS without the need for mad specs. My Z1C becomes worse after each Android update so it feels like I'm being forced to buy a new powerhouse phone to keep up. |

Wireless charging ... now THAT is a gimmick if I've ever seen one.
Ok let's ignore a simplistic cable to plug-in, the industries first reversable one at that. Now let's replace a VERY cheap and simple $15US cable with a $45 cable and small pod which 1 cannot be plugged into your computer for charging, and 2 needs a specific wallcharger. Now in the real world dollars and sense boys and girls. Let's now place the phone over the charging pad and dash off. Which basically saves you 1.2 seconds per time you charge BUT reduces you by 5-10 seconds if you wish to transfer data, rebuild the OS on the phone because you need a new cable to do so.
Again GIMMICK!
If I can wirelessly charge the way Tesla, the REAL Tesla envisioned then THAT is when I want that in my phone, notebook, car, Stereo, portable speakers and wireless headsets.

You can call it a gimmick if you want. In fact almost any other feature on a smartphone can be called that... depends on how you view it and if its useful or not. But the simple fact remains...that it works, and works nicely. Not only does it save you time, like if you're in a hurry, it also saves wear and tear on the usb slot. Which tends to "loosen up" over some time. As for transferring data, there's wifi direct and airdroid, to transfer data wirelessly.
